He was the alien whose nose Groot hooked in prison.

Saw it last night and I loved the whole thing, easily one of my new favorite movies. A few thoughts I had in no particular arrow.

    1. The whistle arrow? Got to say I didn't think much of it at first but that was just awesome when he used it to wipe out the entire Kree group in an eyeblink.
    2. Batista killed it. "Why would I put my finger on his throat?"
    3. Groot was awesome but it seemed like he was a lot weaker at the start of the movie than in the end. Gamora literally casually dismembered him to start but in the end he was just ignoring shots and impaling shitloads of dudes using them as a living club to casually shitstomp entire hallways.
    4. I loved the dance off at the end, you could almost feel the "What the shit am I looking at?" coming from Ronon.
    5. "We are just like Kevin Bacon" I. Died.
    6. Groot dancing in the pot at the end was adorable.
    7. Howard the Duck was hilarious in the post credits.

I definitely plan on seeing this at least one more time.

Yondu was like Alliser Thorne on GoT for me, pathetic at first but truly badass when shit hits the fan.

I thought he was going to just give in and betray Quill when he was surrounded by those Ronan soldiers but woah!

    That needle thing was amazing.

I've never witnessed such abject shock from an audience as when the after-credits scene played; pretty much everyone was laughing and I heard "What the fuck? Howard the Duck!" from a lot of people in the theater. It was glorious.

I was talking to my friend about it, and we're both hoping that Kevin Bacon has a cameo in GotG 2 as Quill's father; never addressed, but just something hilarious for the audience.

I only hope Chris Pratt and RDJ can be in a marvel movie together.
Didn't Tony even runaround with the Guardians once in the comics?

Saw it today. It was decent, maybe good. There were some problems with it though. Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillian just did not belong in this film, where as Dave "The Animal" Batista pretty much carried his own. The multitude of fucking humans in Marvel Space makes me wonder why being a "Terran" even matters and I see the dude from the Hobbit (Elf King) continues to be the center of cheese in any movie he's in. The dude with the cybernetic mohawk and mind-controlled arrow was just weird, as was his Ravagers army. Why do a bunch of scavengers have such a large military force that they're literally going head to head with a Kree terrorist partially backed by Thanos. On that note, the Kree were weird in this. Like, not a single shit given about what Ronan was up to.

Nova Corps was nothing like the comics, which was both understandable and slightly disappointing, because their uniform in-film looked pretty meh to me.

Tone of the movie was a bit weird, when they kept switching from "This is my angst and I suffer through it!" back to "Hah, humour and 70s music". And some of the dialogue, particularily for Saldana and Gillian was just... ugh.

Those aren't humans/terrans. They're aliens who look like humans/terrans. I only know this because I asked about it in another thread somewhere after seeing it in the trailer.

So do you guys think the Spartoi are going to be in Gotg 2 or GotG 3? I like how this movie is really more a setup for phase three than a lead up to avengers 2. Also I'm hoping after Avengers 3 Thanos gets a Thanos trilogy that's based on the Thanos Imperative leading into Avengers 4.

I had no idea who the Spartoi were going into GotG, other than the fact that their prince is Peter Quill's father. Having just googled them, I found out that they're a cousin-race to the Shi'ar (or however you spell it). Since they were purposely not put into the MCU due to Fox having the rights to them, I'm thinking that the Spartoi won't be in it either.

The movie said that Quill's dad was something ancient and unseen, so maybe his dad is a celestial? They already showed one, or a Deviant, messing up the planet that housed the Infinity Gem.

Assuming they don't go for a completely fucking radical change then no that won't happen, Jason and his species are old but not Celestial old.

I think this was the funniest movie I've seen in ages. It was corny humor, but intelligent and well-placed. A lot of movies nowadays just go for the toilet humor/sex jokes. I felt like GOTG managed to encompass a wider variety of humor and it lead to a better comedic effect.

Yet, arguably one of the best joke is a sex joke. Blacklight etc, lol

    Subtle enough though, I suppose.

Anyone remember the wording of the Blacklight joke? I couldn't hear it, or Rocket's response, due to the laughter in the theatre. Easy enough to guess more or less what it was, but curious about the wording and what Rocket said in response when he shrugged.

Basically Gamora says his ship is filthy, then after she's out of earshot, Quill says to Rocket that it's a good thing she didn't have a blacklight, else his ship would look like a Jackson Polluck painting. Punchline = assorted bodily fluids.

Oh I agree. It was hilarious. I'm just glad they didn't limit themselves to just that genre of humor.

I think they might do it where Tony leaves earth somehow post-avengers 2 for being behind Ultron and then be in GOTG2.. that would be awesome. If they can get RDJ to sign off on it.
