Bosses across the world wandering why everyone wants a week or two off on the 28th of August...

Well, I finally got my internet reconnected after not having it since around the 28th of May, and I also just found out about this:
Final Beta Weekend allows Asura and Sylvari to be played

So, despite what may be my better judgement, I think that I'm going to be accruing some minor interest on my credit card so I can play in this last Beta Weekend. That is, rather than waiting until the 20th of August or so when I will be getting my Financial Aid money for school.(which will pay off the amount used on the Credit Card, and have plenty left over)
I fully intended to pre-order regardless, so I might as well play on at least one of the Beta Weekends, even if it will cost me a tiny bit in interest, eh?

With that being said, what plans may there be towards playing together on this last Beta Weekend? I already have my brother and a friend of mine that will likely be playing as well.

Damn, MMO champion had a huge giveaway recently. It's a pity you missed that; anyway, don't screw yourself over, there're lots of ways to get free beta keys. This close to launch, you bet they'll be handing them out like candy.

It's more that I already planned on pre-ordering, and the amount of interest that I would get for the cost of the pre-order in a one-month time-span is a drop in the bucket of my left-over financial aid money, after tuition and such. I likely would have done it earlier, but I didn't have the option to do so.

Well, if you haven't already pre-purchased, I still have a spare code because the store I pre-purchased from gave me two.

...that could work >_> I could wait until next month to actually purchase the game in that case, heh.

That said, does the code itself, have any direct relation to the concept of digital vs digital deluxe, what have you, that I intend to purchase? I presume that I would have to attach to code to what I intend to make my final account, although I guess I could just make a dummy account for the sake of the beta access.

Quoting the text on the card:

According to here, all pre-purchase bonuses are the same, so you won't be missing out on anything there. However, I don't know if you have to pair a standard edition pre-purchase key with a standard edition game.

I'm hoping that you don't, as I actually pre-purchased the collectors edition.

That is strange, considering there is a distinct difference in digital content, and not just physical content, between the standard edition and the digital deluxe/collector's edition. I would imagine that a code specific to your purchase would reflect such a thing.

Beonid, the standard pre purchase gets you the three day early access, and that's about it I think. It's the collector's edition that gets you beta weekend access and the Hero's Band item. I believe there are codes for the additional digital content that come with each version when you pick them up.

Did you buy online or in store?

That's wrong, actually. If you look at the page I linked, you'll see that all pre-purchases receive the same benefits.

I have access to the beta weekends, and I'm also using a standard edition code. That's part of the reason why I hope it doesn't matter which sort of code you use - it'd be a hassle having to contact ArenaNet about the whole issue, simply because my store couldn't give me a Collectors edition code.

Fenraellis, the code is an NA code by the looks of it, so if you're in Europe, you'll probably want to skip it anyway. Apparently there are restrictions on where you can connect from depending on which version you buy.

I'm NA, don't worry about that. Anyway, I am still somewhat curious about if the code really matters, but I'm guessing it's just a Beta Access code... I hope?

I ran a standard code through the website and got a invalid code response. At my work we're giving out collectors codes and standard codes, with different bonuses for each. The CE that I'm talking about is the one that includes the Charr figurine, while the standard is just the game.

The page that you linked is displaying the online Pre-purchase bundles, which are different to the in store preorder ones.

Hmmm, what is the difference, really? I know that you are in Australia, but...?

All that bonus stuff on the linked page are being marketed as 'PrePurchase' bundles, while most stores (in Australia at least) are only selling the game, not 'PrePurchase' editions. There's been some muck about because a lot of the marketing is labelled as PrePurchase when what is being offered is only 'preorder'. 'PrePurchase' is buying your game from ArenaNet, while preorder is buying your game from the retail outlet. The exception to this are the Collectors editions, which are the same bundle as the top end PrePurchase bundle, but they sold out months ago as only so many PrePurchase bundles were made available at store level.

I definitely ordered the CE, which is why I received the pre-purchase code. EB is sole distributor of the CE for AU/NZ, so I imagine we've got the same bundles here as you do.

Both pieces of paper I was given say the codes grant 'pre purchase' bonuses. They also both congratulate me on securing a copy of the Guild Wars 2 Standard Edition. Maybe it's a typo.

The reason why I have two codes in the first place is because I got an invalid code response for the first one. The second one I received gave me the same error as the first, so I waited awhile. Seemed to fix the problem for both codes.

The bit of paper with your code on it has the red headed Norn woman on it? Text then reads:

"Congratulations on securing your copy of Guild Wars 2 STANDARD Edition. To unlock your PRE ORDER Bonus, please visit...etc, etc."

    Capitalisation in there not mine.

    Nah, mine says:
Capitalisation not mine either. It also has a rather angry looking Charr on it.

Ahh. That is the CE code card. Typo then. I gave my CE card out to a customer who got gypped by Game when they shut down because I'm an awesome bastard. Unfortunately, that left me without a CE code of my own, hence my standard ed code.
