I could not stand that series at all, I tried very hard to force myself through the first several episodes but I got to a point where I just couldn't take any more of the smug holier than thou bullshit from the Celestial Being guys. It was absurd frankly, I was honestly shocked when I learned later that they were apparently the ones I was supposed to root for, especially given that from about ten minutes into the first episode I'd been praying for each of them to die a violent and grisly death.

 

I certainly wasn't egging for them early on either. Rather, the only character I really liked in the first season was Allelujah and that was because he seemed the most mellow out of them all. I'd recommend watching second season though, if you haven't. It totally turned the tables and their enemies were legit jerkasses while CB turned more sympathetic.

Main reason though is because 00 Raiser really reminded me of Wing Zero.

 

My favorite will always be Gundam Wing. I've been watching Gundam 00, but I haven't got all that far into it yet. G Gundam was okay, but not my favorite, and Gundam Seed was okay too. Nothing tops Gundam Wing for me though...

 

I've watched parts of some of the earlier Gundam series because my best friend liked them, but the only one I watched in its entirety was Gundam Wing. I hate to be a broken record, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and suggest you start there; unlike what Tenhauser said, I had no prior knowledge of the Gundam universe, yet I understood it well enough.
