Summary: A forbidden encounter, a chance conversation. Rukia Kuchiki is about to discover what some people are willing to do for the good of Soul Society.

Easily one of the best fics I've come across. The summary and character listing only applies for chapter one, from then onwards nearly every character makes an appearance, although Rukia and Gin do have further confrontations. The story itself starts around the time Rukia becomes a shinigami and follows bleach canon (with some brilliant twists) up till the battle over Karakura Town, where it diverges quite dramatically.

I could probably rave about this fic for ages, instead I'll just say the writing is superb, the depth of each and every character is staggering, the intrigue will blow your mind, the humour will have you in stitches and Gin will make you shit bricks.

I fuckin hate Gin. On top of that, no Ichigo as the main character. So,not going to read.

 

Ichigo is about as bland of a main character as you can have.

 

This fic is awesome. Despite the lack of a lead character (though Rukia seems to be driving the plot the most at this point), I'm finding this fic to be absolutely amazing. The characters are well written and I an empathise with them all in some way. Well, all except for Gin, but he's exactly what I think of when the word sociopath is uttered. I actually felt a bit of fear because of his portrayal in chapter 4. Words do not begin to describe how creepy he is.

I don't give a shit who the main character is in most stories. As long as it isn't hardcore slash/yaoi. This fic is one of the best bleach fics I've run into in a long, long time. It has my approval.

I have the other problem - I LOOVE Gin, but detest Rukia. I guess I read this after some recommendations.

It was quite enjoyably written, and very intense at the right moments. There is no need for plot, the character interactions and scenes are enough to run this story. The Kidô class incident was high-level awesomeness. Gin tormening Rukia is priceless.
