I'm looking for a specific fic that I remember in which it is either heavily implied or outright stated that the war against Voldemort was much more costly than in canon, resulting in a victorious "light" side that had a take-no-prisoners attitude.

The most striking change was that students who were sorted into Slytherin had something horrible done to them (if memory serves, there magic was taken away somehow).

The story centers around the meetings on the train and the Sorting, and the image that stays with me is that Draco was absolutely scared shitless, and spends half the story repeatedly casting the lumos spell to reassure himself that he still has magic. Then the sorting happens...

I remember it being a chilling little story that was very well written, but I can't remember enough keywords to find it in the search engine.
