Harry and his Hocrux-like state...

I just started reading Partially Kissed Hero, which someone linked on this thread, and had a thought.

What if the reason the dementors are so attracted to Harry third year is because of the partial horcrux inside of him? They're under directions to search out a dark wizard, Sirius Black, and wouldn't Voldemort's spirit be the darkest? Maybe his incredibly adverse reaction comes not only from his bad memories, but also the dementor's pull on Voldemort spirit?

    Just a thought.

Or maybe he just seemed particularly delicious, like one of those eggs with the double yolks in them. :p

Hermione was there, wasn't she? I would think she'd be the tastiest.

What about the guy who was dangled from a window on a regular bases, for his supposed lack a magic? Or what about the spider-phobic guy who ended up in mortal danger because of Aragog's minions?

Excuse the pointless post, I'm bored and don't feel like bitching about FFN at the moment.

Basilisk Venom is used to destroy the horcrux right?.. In CoS Harry tries to destroy the diary after bitten by the Basilisk. In that moment Harry was effectively dying i.e, both the souls inside Harry's body aware that they are leaving soon. What would happen, when Diary!Horcrux tried to posses Harry in order to prevent him from destroying the diary?.. There is a chance that two Horcrux can latch on to each other, since the soul inside Harry is endangered (Also Harry's sole is pure with Lily's protection, it might help the process). Coupled with Basilisk venom and Lily's protection Harry can throw it off the possession of merged souls. When he destroys the diary it effectively completes the process. The only thing I'm not able to determine is, How will two horcruxes react when they are near?. Voldemort posseses Nagini in OOTP, but Nagini!horcrux was not threatened during that time. Any ideas?...

Its doesnt really matter. The Horcrux in Harry shouldnt exist. Voldie couldnt touch Harry without getting hurt/dying(Quirrell).

So how did it survive 16-17 years in Harry. Plus like you said Harry was dosed with Basilisk Venom, which will destroy Horcruxes.

I'm not sure, but I think it's never actually stated that Basilisk venom destroys horcruxes. Sure we've seen the soul in Riddle's diary destroyed, but it could have been the fang that did the thing. Perhaps if Harry had stabbed it with a knife, it would have been destroyed.

And also, the phoenix tears wouldn't only have healed the wound, they would also have destroyed the basilisk venom in his body.

All of the above are just speculations since I'm having trouble recalling canon.

The venom is what kills the Horcrux becuase thats why they need the sword. It has the venom in the blade now:confused:.

Clearly you've forgotten Deathly Hallows. Basilisk venom, fiendfyre... none of these things destroy horcruxes.

There is only one thing that destroys a horcrux: destroying the receptacle beyond magical repair.

Basilisk venom and Fiendfyre are things that are (usually) able to do this.

The horcrux within Harry didn't die when he was dosed with Basilisk venom because it is not the basilisk venom that destroys the horcrux: the basilisk venom destroys the receptacle, which destroys the horcrux. In this case the receptacle (Harry) was not destroyed.
