Like the title says, I'm looking for a rather old (3 years?) story where Harry

has a green flame animagus form. Granted the story uses some weird name

for the creature he becomes. His form, if I remember correctly, allows him to

travel using fires (fireplaces, torches, etc), and he uses that ability to rescue some people from Voldemort.

Anyway, any help in locating this fic is appreciated, thnx.

 

First of all, I'm not quite sure I understand your weird choice of formatting. Although the story doesn't sound spectacular, more information would definitely be useful for finding it.

 

I know this story...and I just had it on the tips of my fingers.

Wait . . . he literally becomes a fire that is green in color? Or am I missing some sort of crossover source here where something is simply called a "green flame"?

 

Rin: He becomes some kind of creature that basically resembles a green flame, I'm not sure about the title.

Lord Xantam: I'll blame lack of sleep on the choice (or absence thereof?) of formatting (-: I think the story might be older than the 3 years I mentioned, probably closer to 4-5. Furthemore I really don't remember much about it, except that I read a good deal of it, it was at least decent (cant remember if my standars were higher or not).

i wish I could remember more, its just that Ellisande mentioned: it's a cool concept and unfortunately random cool concepts are generally twisted and utterly destroyed by slash nowadays.

Excellent! The name of the author does seem familiar as does the summary of the story. Thanks again, not being able to find the story was bugging me a lot. Kudos to you.

 

For what it's worth, I remember this used to be called "Harry Potter and the Green Flame Torch." Some may remember way back post-OotP when it was rumored book 6 (aka HBP) was going to be called "Harry Potter and the Green Flame Torch."

I'm guessing the title rumor inspired the plot bunny and animagus form, etc...

 

Well, I just tried reading it, and I found the first chapter or so to be decidedly average.

While the green flame is a cool concept, is the fic actually worth reading?

 

Ellisande: I started reading it and the first chapter at least seems to have quite a few spelling/grammar mistakes. I don't remember if it improves. However, there is a sequel which hasn't been updated since 2007. The story as far as I could tell is not abandoned just expect an update rate similar Naia.

 

Go read it and get back to me imo.

 

It was good back in 2003-2005 when our standards were low. Now, it's full of cliché, like Merlin appearing in Harry's dream, he being the heir of the founders and whatnot, etc.

There are some good concepts but I wouldn't have the courrage to reread it fully.
