    Bioplague/Merrill II's A Very Long Engagement is the single greatest Harry/Fleur story ever written. It sucks that he only wrote two chapters before abandoning it. ;_;

    I'll agree with a few others and say that I couldn't get into Wastelands (I think I got to chapter thirty or something before just dropping it), and that Lie just did nothing for me (the Sorting Hat is likely my least favourite aspect of it). There was also that horrendously bad fic Knowledge is Power or something, where Harry was two years older than canon and quite possibly the most annoying Sue I've ever had the displeasure of reading about.

    You know, of the dozens of complains people make about Knowledge is Power, there is one I never understood. Why do people call Harry a Sue? He is anything but a Sue. He is a cruel bastard, an annoying self-centered prick. He even states as much several times. The story does not try to hide it. Rather, it is done this way on purpose.
    Yes, he is stupidly overpowered. The fact that he has been studying/training magic since he was old enough to read gives at least some semblance of legitimacy to that, as well as the fact that he is usually right in matters to do with magic, but nothing beyond that. In fact, his plans blow spectacularly in his face plenty of times.

    Which of these makes a Sue?

    Actually Knowledge is Power has always been one of my favorite stories, and my only problem with it was that the version I read had too many typos. Maybe it was because it got ruined during the copying process or maybe it was that way from the very beginning, I don't know, still sad that it was abandoned tho.

    I think you're one of the first people I've seen to dislike The Lie I've Lived. I thought it was almost universally loved (and deservedly so). The Sorting Hat was a novel and welcome idea. Maybe his humor just isn't your cup of tea.

    It's not universally loved. Maybe by the same people who think MoR is the best fic ever, but most of the veterans on this site can see past the rose-tinted goggles and see the fic for what it truly is. I first read it back in 2009, and thought it was great, but once I started reading more fanfiction, I realized it really wasn't that great, and that I just hadn't really been exposed to the fandom, and now, that fic is pretty much unreadable, and I've tried to go back and read it again.

    There's just too much of it that is cringeworthy, and it's not really the sorting hat that is the problem, it's pretty much all the minor details that sort of just pile up and leave you wonder "what exactly did I see in this fic in the first place?"

    @post 2059: That wasn't an opinion.

    @Knowledge is power: There's a Trope for that.

    I reread it probably last month and I still find that it holds up. To Fight the Coming Darkness definitely has some of those cringeworthy moments and seems cliche ridden. But I genuinely believe that Lie has held up and remains not just a hallmark of H/F but of fanfiction in general. But hey everyone's opinion is their own.

    Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

    Edit: No love for Secret of The Male Veela by mrriddler? I hear it's an unfinished classic of modern times.

    hehe

    I'm skeptic but it's fairly short so I'll give it a whirl. The good Harry/Multi stories are few and far between and that is putting it lightly.

    Y'all just got trolled.

    I think there was a couple H/F fics mentioned recentinly in the Almost Rec thread. Haven't gone back and read them yet.

    TLIL is one of my favorite fics, but I read it a while back so maybe not. Wastelands was okay, took me a couple attempts to read it. I couldnt help but wish I got to see "how" Harry did all this cool shit. Instead of him just like bottling twilight or something and going wild.

    I've been reading When a Veela Cries, for lack of anything better to do, and I honestly loath Fleur. I find her fun to read, but she's an honest to god bitch. I honestly prefer the OC Veelas to her. Though I let loose a chuckle during the whole "Men are handsome" thing she did in Paris.

    Funny, that particular bit of retardation was what made me put the story down in disgust.

    What made me put down the story was the sappy apology scene later in the story. Fleur being a bitch (though for honestly no reason) was amusing, at least to me. It didn't endear me to the character, however.
