I'm fine with it killing the Malfoys. I just don't think it'd be best if it killed the Delacours. If it did then Harry and Fleur would kill the Basilisk, Learn than Tom Riddle is Voldemort and think 'Ok Voldemort killed our parents! Let's go to Dumbledore so he can help us fight him!'

And from there it loses all its potential as a Dark-Fleur story :\

 

Well I've been having this idea for a long time now.I'd actually make the harry potter world a much more biased world where commoners have absolutely no way of changing crap, and make harry live with sirius( for tha puppet minister didnt dare throw him to jail with out a trial and from there on make him what lucius malfoy probably was during his time at hogwarts changing lucius' agresive and confrontational caracter for a colder suaveharry who wouldn't consider even speaking with ron or even better make the cream of magical europe go to a better school focused on making alliaces and meassuring where everybody else stands in terms of power, of course as harry starts comming on top flleur wants him and harry appreciates the prestige that comes from having the hottest girl in town.Also instead of sirius you can have the flammels take care of him , but dont make them all goody-goody make them old styled task masters making him work his ass off. well opinions and solicitations to write the story will be much apreciated

Not sure if anyone's posted this one yet. JUst saw it now, seems like it might be ok, as long as the author keeps it sensible.
Basically Neville is the BTW and (surprise surprise) is a bit of an asshole. Harry doesnt talk much. He's badass but in a bad way.
Actually the more i talk about it the more i am convinced of its crapness.
But the author has said itll be a H/F story, and Fleur here is portrayed as a woman with something to prove. I've forgotten the backstory, but she's determined to win the TWT for matters of pride etc. At least she's not vapid

Few people have ever introduced the issue of flying into a Harry/ Fleur romantic fic. Introduced it WELL, I mean. With Secret Diary...eh, it's a bit corny.

I grant it's very difficult, but one of Harry's one true loves is flying. It'd be a good idea to have Fleur enjoy it too so they can connect on another base.

That one had Fleur as a flier and a few important scenes were carried out on brooms.

That seems interesting for the sole condition of being Harry/Fleur. However, I have the serious issue with starting it with Neville being the one. I hate Neville in some stories, in canon, or at least stories that stick close to canon character roles I like picking on him, making him suffer with no redemption or salvation in sight. I associate him with Dobby on that matter.

Why not have Neville tempted by the Dark Arts?

Have his parents crucio'd into insanity and have Voldemort offer him the chance and power to bring them back?

Powerful motivator, IMO.

 

There's no motivation to join up with the guy who indirectly had my parents tortured. Unless he starts out "seeking revenge waah" and slowly loses sight of his original plan.

I think a good reason for neville to turn dark would be Harry's relationship with Sirius, and his relation to Bellatrix.Or maybe Harry being the one on the prophecy which in turn had his parents tortured to insanity. What do you think?

 

Interesting idea, i'm going to tweak it.

Bellatrix and the Lestrangs, in an attempt to gain favor/information with the now dead (though the refuse to believe it, and hope that by gaining the prophecy they will gain V.'s favor) Voldemort and learn the prophecy torture Neville's parents into insanity. They get captured, blah blah blah. This is after V. attacks the Potters, and Neville is sent to his grandmothers. Voldemort is reborn in fourth year, and the story progresses like regular. However, at the end of fifth year Harry tells Neville the prophecy. A death eater gets a hold of Neville's rememberall and curses it to slowly corrupt his thoughts. Neville stumbles upon the idea that (after Harry tells him the prophecy) if Dumbledore had simply told the world the prophecy, the LeStranges would have tortured his parents into insanity. Angry at Dumbledore, and lacking the resources to get revenge on his own he approaches Mlfoy. If this sounds too intelligent for Neville, the cursed rememberall could push him to the idea. After a correspondence from Malfoy to Voldemort, Voldemort tells Mlfoy to make him an offer. Were he to spy on Potter and Dumbledore, he would allow Neville to get his revenge on Bella and restore his parents mind.

Or we could get really outrageous and say perhaps that Neville's grandmother is in fact a Death Eater under constant Polyjuice, and the real Augusta died along with Neville's parents.

Think about it. Bellatrix and such, being such high ranking DE's were informed of a little of the prophecy. They knew that it was either Potter or Longbottom who was the once prophecised. So just in case, they captured Longbottom in an attempt to get at least one of the children. One unlucky Death Eater was tasked with becoming Augusta and he was not captured along with the Lestranges etc.

Thats the reason Neville has always been so sheltered and such. His guardian is very over-protective. And using the remembrall idea as corruption except it was sent by his evil Death Eater imposter relative. Same with why he has to use his father's wand. Perhaps it has a subtle charm designed to help turn Neville to the dark side. And though he has a hatred of Bellatrix, that can be used.

One short question...

...Has any of you finished the 20.000 word Harry/Fleur story yet?

I've been re-reading the thread and it kept coming up, so I thought I'd ask to see if anyone had finished it and uploaded it.

 

I just finished the first draft of mine (~75k words), but it's going through an extensive revision to address sage comments from three early readers (ParseltonguePhoenix, Methene, Fenraellis).

Once I have it in a shape where I feel I've done the story justice and have run it by at least one beta, expect it to be posted in some form. (Probably a WBA).

 

Even though I proposed the whole deal in the first place, I am ashamed to admit the story is in the same stage as Ron's success in life. Dreaming about it but doing nothing towards it. I find it hard to concentrate on more than one at the same time. Good question, though and it might unearth some gems, as was the case with Perspicacity's. I had no idea he was working on a story and then suddenly I get over 50,000 words to read.
