I can't hear that word anymore without thinking of that Star Wars parody that was released a long while back. Particularly that scene between Palpatine and Vader about the Death Star.

I really don't recommend it. It was barely torlorable for me when I had much higher tolerance for bullshit.

Oh and in the ending scene, Fleur dies. Harry and Voldy fight with swords the size of small cars. And quite obviously the Snake-faced prick is totally eviscerated due to Hary's Uber-powers after seeing his love of his life die. Oh and Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, Voldemort's body, Merlin... is obliterated in that blast of magical energy, but somehow Fleur's body manages to stay totally intact.

It saddens me that I still remember that even after about reading it 3-4 years ago...

EDIT: I like the original considerably better. It was better written and didn't have Fleur giggling all the time. Giggling is annoying. Makes me glad I did correspondance from years nine to twelve. I missed a number of the giggling years.

 

Sesc, you missed this one on the H/F list of your. I think the story had already been reviewed here, but get only into the The Recycling Bin. It's not bad if you like Harry/Fleur though.

That story sucked after a few chapters. Sudden marriage coming from nowhere was an instant BIG-RED-BUTTON for me. H/F isn't enough to cover the suckiness.

 

True, Blissful Amnesia may have sucked some on the plot, with way too many plotholes to keep track of, but we have to covet the few Harry/Fleur fics with halfway decent grammar that we have.

If anyone doesn't know this, some of the only other good fics are like, 'Secrets of the Male Veela'. Which is abandoned. I asked.

Here's a idea to look at; Dunno if it has been mentioned before, but lets have a swing at it.

What if James and Lily weren't quite as Light as they seemed? What if they were, along with several other prominent families (including the Delacours), part of a secret cult, dedicated to raising the legend of the Succubi and Incubi from the mists of legend and into reality.

And in said interest, had been experimenting on Harry, trying to create the first Incubi in centuries, to lead them into power?

A new twist on the 'male veela' spin of HPdom. He could awaken, somewhere along the fourth or fifth year, and seek out the closest thing to a Succubi he could find, which are Veela, descendents of such, to help him control said power?

Or, you could just go DarkHarry and make him use it to manipulate the women around him for power.

And I'm talking full aura, batlike wings, the whole she-bang. And for once, let him NOT be able to control it, making all the women around start doing the same shit men do in front of Veela, IE showing off, sniping eachother, general self destructive behavior to get his attention.

I know, it sounds kind of farfetched, even to me. But hey, I heard somewhere earlier, fanon only has to make enough sense for the reader to think it possible.

Some would say I'm a avid Harry/Fleur fan. Those some would be massively understating the matter.

Thanks, I'm glad you think so. I can only mostly do suggestions at the moment, since I'm tied up in my own story on fanfiction. It started out pretty crappy, since it was my first piece, and I'm trying to patch it up later in the story.

I'm reluctant to let go of it, since it is, you know, my first fic. Kind of like a parent who doesn't want their kid to leave home.

I just like originality, I suppose.

I agree, Existance's idea has promise (and welcome to DLP) and is a creative way for Harry and Fleur to get together, but it'd take a compelling back story to make plausible why Lily and James would even want to turn their son into an incubus. (That is, unless you're writing it as zany comedy, in which case, "Why not? Wings are cool and besides, this way he won't have trouble finding a date when he's older." would suffice).

On an unrelated topic, any reason why you go for the alternative spelling of "existence," Existance? I find it very hard to type.

As for the wings, hell, I don't know that much about Incubi other then that they're the male version of a succubi. Saw the wings on wiki, and decided to add to my comment. If wings don't float your boat, then by all means, there are no wings.

Oh snap, lightbulb!

Lily is a undercover Veela. She, and most of the Veela community, have been linking up with strong magical males, and preforming experiments, trying to rebirth the Incubi. Why, you ask?

Veela have been steadily declining in power, after the first one fell in love with a human, diluting the blood. Their auras diminished, their powers waned, and the highest matriarchs of the Veela royalty are desperately trying to stop this.

The last Incubi were all killed off by jealous males who had been envious of their power or furious over them stealing their women.

As such, they sent out the specially trained Veela, like Lily, to try conduct experiments on their and their enthralled husbands, trying to produce a Incubi, who can save them from their decline by producing full Succubi daughters and Incubi sons, who can in turn return the blood to full potency.

This is a fic where Lily is Dark, and James has been bewitched from day 1. Explains pretty well how a Casanova like him was suddenly completely focused on a single girl.

They wrote off Harry as failed experiment, since he failed to awaken. I'm sure you can all come up with explanations, like A) Killing Curse suppressed it, B) Dumbledore did, C) It took until magical maturity, or some random stuff like that I know is easy to cook up.

I'm guessing the best place to do his 'awakening' thing is either at the end of third year (Dementors trigger it, and we wouldn't want a 11-year old boy with the power to sleep with any woman he wants, right?), or somewhere in the Tournament, the Incubi-ism being triggered by stress or graveyard fight.

The whole thing, I think, shows a lot of promise. Some of you may be thinking, 'This is mrriddler's fic, only with different name.'

No.

Lily is Veela, Dark Veela who manipulated the heart of James. If you want some more emotional 'oomph', then say she slept with Sirius and Remus too, for more strong magical male seed.

Also, I'm hoping whoever does this doesn't make Fleur suddenly jump Harry's bones while he's hospitalized. I'm thinking more along the lines of, 'Power awakens, all females around him start acting strange, he asks, 'What the fuck is happening?', and looks it up.'

As for how the matriarchs(Love that word, Mass Effect, what can I say?) find out, there's a number of explanations for that, too. Implanted sleeper charm, Fleur or someone reports, etcetera. I'm not going to make the whole thing up, damn it.

I hope someone takes me up on the idea. I'm currently weighed down by my fic like a pregnant teenager's boyfriend would be. Erg...

 

That works nicely. Another event that could be used for the trigger is puberty, which could be late for Harry. (He's young for his Hogwarts year and he's suffered malnutrition through most of his life).

A variant that could be interesting would be if Succubi and Veela are different manifestations of the same thing: Veela are kissed by the divine, whereas Succubi, by the demonic. That way you could explain the difference in James's behavior as being more along the lines of an Imperius vs. Veela enthrallment; moreover, you could have fun with Harry's slow discovery of his latent ability to beguile and manipulate.

Perhaps the Veela were the ones who hunted down the Incubi and Succubi, who in turn decimated their ranks? The two groups could be mortal enemies, which would lend a forbidden aspect to Harry's and Fleur's relationship and supply additional tension and confict. And it'd set up a Light!Fleur who a steadily darkening Harry could work to corrupt.

Regarding D&R and its sequel: Glad you enjoyed it. I've been pulled away from writing lately (real life intrusion), but am getting back into it. I have a long (15k words) one-shot that's approaching doneness that's Harry/Ginny that ends Harry/Daphne (a SIYE challenge that I'm turning on its ear) and I'm about 2/3 of the way through the fic excerpted in my sig. After that, I'll be in shape to tackle some of the problems impeding the sequel.
