Yeah I always like Harry/Fleur pairing idea. Always thought the real life pairing was kinda dull, I mean come on, Harry can pretty much get any girls he want and picked ginny?

 

Errm... You know there are no real wizards name Harry and Ginny that are married right?

Oh and great insight into the reasoning behind Harry/Fleur - never really thought about it that way.

I was hoping someone had posted a new story, only to see that shit. Has anyone actually found a worthwhile H/F fic recently?

Letters and Wastelands/Heartlands should not even be mentioned in the same sentence.

 

Letter should just not be mentioned, really. Lie and Wastelands are really the only two good (well, great) H/F fics. Circular Reasoning has H/F as one of the pairings, but I'm not entirely sure that still applies.

Ahh yes, I always forget that one in my list, despite the fact that I loved it.

 

Instead of crying over the lack of any new H/F fics Lungs should be writing Rap Attack HP.

 

Dagger and Rose is decent but not amazing. I have a feeling that if Pers were to rewrite it, it would definitely be one of the top 3, but meh. Still, hoping for a sequel just the same.

"Come out, Dirty Harry. Death Row Cafeteria representin'! Riddle packing heat, you know you can't beat. Walk through the door like a man and face the music!"

"Fuck, niggaz onto us", whispered Pegleg. "I'm gon' hold him off so yah can get away."

"Nah, you can't do this, Pegleg!" protested Harry.

"I must. Bumblebee entrusted this shit to me. If shit gets real, I'm gon' have to take it. I've been in the game for sixty years. It's time I go out with one last spit before I die in my bed."

There were several thunks as Pegleg walked out to meet his death at the hands of Riddle Me This. DJ Granjy looked ready to cry.

"Yo, we gon' hafta get away, Harry", said Redman.

"I know, nigga. But itz fittin' to watch Pegleg's last mo'. I have mah Glock on me. If shit go down, I'ma scream thug life and empty the clip, then run. A single shot gon' make the popo come, Ron."

Shackled King took a deep breath. "I don't like this shit. We trapped like rats in here, my man. We gotta run. I got this ghetto-ass van around the corner. If we split up, son, we all gon' get home to our wifes and kids."

Loopy nodded. "Yo, tha King got this right. We gon' hafta make a break for it."

Outside, Pegleg was toting his thirty eight special with a grim expression. "Yo, there doesn't need to be any bloodshed around here. But if you think I'm gon' go down without a spit..."

B. Black laughed shrilly. "You isn't ill no more, Alastor Moody! No one in the game gives you respect no more! You just asking to die. Don't think I haven't forgotten how you got me locked, son."

Riddle-me-this pushed her off to the side. "I'm gon' handle this, B. Ya should just stand the fuck down." He turned to Pegleg. "Yo, someone's gon' drop a beat?"

In response, Sevvie Snape began to beatbox.

"Yo, Da Bat's bringin' it!" said a Death Row DJ that Pegleg didn't recognize.

"Shame on a nigga for tryna run game on a nigga. Y'all the same kinda niggas who'd use yo fame on a nigga. This is Phoenix Productions I'm representing. The niggas who dissenting can't pay fo' their renting. Cuz I been da illest as long as I lived, before B. Black was locked, before Riddle got shocked. This is the memories of running through the street with Professa Bumblebee, y'all!"

"Yo... yo, yo, let's bring it. My name been Tom Riddle for many a year. Even the Ministry look my Death Row with fear, yo, Riddle kicking this shit into high gear. Cuz when you spit against me, you ain't burned, you seared! Made one mistake in mah life, wuz respecting the Seer, but one thing is clear, nigga. I'm dropping game, shootin' you deers, shittin' on my smearers. Who the rapper without peer? Riddle-me-this, motherfuckas!"

So was I. I wrote that in the worst 10 minutes of my life. Haha.

 

I concur on its quality, though it's worth noting that for its time it was original and unique. The story predated the bulk of the TLIL and Wastelands work and was one of the first two complete H/F novel-length stories. The sequel will happen eventually (it's about 2/3 written atm). After I finish my story for Jim's antho, I plan to do a longer fanfiction piece. It'll either be to finish this story or to follow up on the start to a How To Train Your Dragon fanfic concept I began (antihero Hiccup ftfw).

To be a little crass, what makes it hard to really dig into a fanfic story is that for the time I'd sink into doing it right (and my writing time is limited of late as is), I could pump out ten or so short stories marketable to original fiction markets/contests. I normally sell to higher c/word pay or semi-pro markets, so this translates to somewhere between $750 and $1250 of opportunity cost, which starts to feel like real money in this economy.

I suspect I'm not the only fanfiction writer who feels this pressure: a choice of writing "for the love" vs. writing something that'll build a pro fiction resume.

Well, presumably you've read Jim's latest status update. "In a few months" would be an optimistic estimate, I think.
