Um, hi, I guess. I've been having a few ideas running around in my(mostly empty) head.

My challenge is for anybody to write a believeable, multi-chapter fic that has the Malfoys raising Harry. I actually just came up with that off the top of my head. As he was raised by the Malfoys, it would necessitate a Slytherin!Harry, possibly Ravenclaw!Snobbish!Harry, since the Slytherin!Harry plotbunny is a bit overused(mostly by the rabid HarryDraco slash fangirls:wall: ). Things to be considered is that Harry, being raised in full awareness of who he is, coupled with living with the Malfoys, could turn him into a sarcastic, pompous arse, but sarcasm is a good thing.

    Weasley!bashing and AttemptedManip!Dumbledore also encouraged.

    Ideas?

Well, your idea is not exactly original. I've come across more than my fair share of Malfoy raising Harry fics. I didn't read any of them though, and most were probably Draco/Harry slash.

    Hm. Didn't know that.

However, I'd like to see one where Harry is a Slytherin through and through. And i don't want Slash. Heck, kill Draco and make Harry the Malfoy Heir, if you want to. Actually, that could be a good plot device.

Edit: 'Kay, I'll issue a new challenge. Riddle becomes angry with Lucius on his first rise to power and has Narcissa killed, so Draco is never born. Tom attempts Harry's death, 'dies' like he did in canon. Malfoy, who is the only Death Muncher present at the Potter Manor during Moldyshort's Fall, takes in Harry and trains him up as Heir of the Malfoys. Harry Malfoy is now the savior of the Wizarding World, and he knows it. Sarcastic!Arrogant!Harry a must. AttemptedManip!Dumbledore and WeasleyGranger!bashing encouraged.

I know you are new so I wont rant about this. Edit button is you're friend.

    Just to help you out:

Double-posting (two consecutive posts by a person in a row, in a single thread) is looked down upon. There is an edit button - if you have something to add and your post is still last in the thread, click the edit button found at the bottom of your post :).

    Hope this helps.

    As for your challenge:
You should explain why Manip!Dumbledore and WeasleyGranger!Bashing is encouraged.

While hatred of a character is perfectly acceptable and we are allowed to do whatever we want within our fiction, bashing is an element in any story that can turn off even a fellow-hater.

Subtle destroying of a character is better. Perhaps you should suggest that Hermione and Ron do not come out better off at the end of the story and are perhaps even misled by Dumbledore who attempts to orchestrate a plan that will help rid the world of the Dark Lord.

While this is a road often explored by authors in the Independent!Harry genre, it is one that still has a lot of potential to it. The problem is, authors resort to making their characters dumb.

Would it be more interesting to have Harry walk circles around dumb!Dumbledore, dumb!Ron and dumb!Hermione as an intelligent, aristocratic jackass or would it be more interesting to go against Dumbledore who not only attempts to "manipulate" the world but is successful while Harry does not know it until the resolution or climax of the story?

Present Ron and Hermione as decent characters and give hints to their deception that are subtle - not glaring, like having a chapter where Dumbledore pays Ron with Hermione's virginity or gives Hermione a bookcase to do his bidding. Make them generally seem normal and perhaps make them good but show that they lack a serious grasp of reality. Make it so you hate them their through their intelligence, not their glaring stupidity.

I only address this as this a main concern for people who explore this avenue - one can grow tired of the Harry who comes in and has everything go his way. For once, throw in a game that's back and forth and that may even have Harry getting his ass kicked for awhile.

Eitherway, its a premise explored (Harry Malfoy) but one that still needs a signature story in its collection. One can think of the fangirl Slytherinnette's Cruel Intentions ripoff where Harry is the Prince of Slytherin and shags the bitches left and right or a few scant decent ones but a defining one for the genre would be awesome.

I think it'd need to take place in 4th or 5th or even 6th year, as opposed to starting in the first year so that we aren't bored to death. You start later, you can gloss over the differences and not have to maintain the same plot for five years that canon had.

    Good luck.

Shite, didn't realize. Thanks for the heads-up, though, as I am a total noob here. Apologies to all. Oh, and I did realize how incredibly vague I am getting, but a hangover is not conducive to brain activity. You've got fair points all around, and good point-It would take flarking forever to write six years worth of story. Bit too much, even for me. Thank you for the heads-up and now, if you'll excuse me, I feel my muse returning, in the form of...Harry Malfoy.

As too your original challenge, see happy red prince, not exactly raised by malfoys but same attitude as malfoy and best friends with him.

I wouldnt mind seeing a MalfoyRaised!Harry story. The idea isnt new by any means, but I've yet to see one that I've liked. It's an interesting idea thats been killed by shitty authors. Harsh? Maybe, but thats how I see it.

I like the idea presented in your new challenge more than the old one.
