    So, yeah.

I've exhausted the Library's Harry/OC stories (even those in the Trash), and I've looked at the older topics (though I may have missed one or two).

Since it's been a while since a topic search like this was made, a whole lot of new stories may have been posted in the meantime between this topic and the last similar search.

So, does anyone know of any (at least) semi-decent Harry/OC stories?

I'm not at all picky - muggle, witch, vampire, fae, dryad, veela, valkyrie, mermaid-that-has-the-womanly-bits-on-the-bottom-and-the-fish-head-on-top, etc.

Yeah, as you can see, I'm pretty desperate to find something that isn't either a (piss-poor) self-insert 'witch', a piss-poor self-insert that has a fangirl as a canon character's daughter (e.g., Dumbitchakoff Black, daughter of Sirius Orion Black III), or one that follows the Ice Queen Slytherin girl (yes, that includes Fem!Blaise, Daphne/Astoria) or the 'cute Hermione' Tracy Davis tropes.

Although, I would read a story that has Daphne as Autistic, or something at least a little refreshing.

So, does anyone know of anything?

Well, I'll recommend an author to you. As of late, he's written the most interesting Harry/OC stories I've found. Check out Sereven. Would I rec him for the library? Probably not. But I do enjoy his stuff.

I think this is the only one I've ever read:

    Ganymede Rising
A slightly different take on indy!Harry. A summer vacation leads Harry to do some exploring someplace not so far afield. Sixteen, bored, and faced with the newest threat to his sanity - the cute waitress. Music and a little mayhem. Post 5th, slight AU, One-shot.

Jezeray wrote a H/OC fic, but never finished the sequel. Here.

    Hell Eyes
Harry was born cursed, but didn't know until he fell through a portal to another world. There people have wings and hate him for his curse, but it gives him power: power to change this new world as well as his own. AU after 5th year.

I really enjoyed it the first time I read it, and the second time it was still good, although not 5 stars. The entire world is OCs, and it very quickly becomes a creature fic. Also, the H/OC part really isn't that much of a part, at least for most of the fic.

But it is a reasonably hefty story.

I don't know any Harry/OC fics, but here's a good TR/OC, if you are interested:

Years of Rebellion and The Fifth Element both have prominent HP/OCT romances, though neither have it as the "official" pairing (which is a shame, because in both cases it's better).

I agree in The Fifth Element, but Years of Rebellion I have to disagree.

But then, I abhor The Fifth Element. It props up everything about fanfiction romance tropes that I hate. Emotional, demanding, confusing bitches and clueless, spineless fools.

UGH. That's not romantic comedy, it's tragically unfunny and annoying as shit when Harry proves for the fiftieth time that he's denser than a solid bar of refined Uranium.

Sins of the Father by Talia Carter is very old (2001), a Mary Sue, and "almost recommended" at best, but might be worth mention.

Cygnus Crux has some stories from the same era, though like YoR, they are HP/OC until the main pairing (HP/GW) happens.

You...found an H/OC complete fic on ff.net that I've never seen before??

    You're awesome Perspicacity.

Harry Potter and the Transfer Student.

I don't know why I like this story, as it's alternative title could be Harry Potter and the Mary Sue, but it's well written, and the premise behind it is interesting, as I've always been a fan of seeing various interpretations of magical society. Still, it failed to get into the library here, so be warned.

I like a lot of things about this story, but I'm pretty baffled by the idea that the author thinks he won the bet. Half the story is the main character whining about a foreign culture being different from hers, and a lot of the time people yield to her completely ridiculous demands.
