Part of me wonders how they'll pull off magic on stage. Or if it's on stage because they aren't going to have much magic (which might be terrible).

Just a random bit of information:

Apparently, in some Korean articles, the play's title is translated as "Harry Potter and the Abandoned Children." Korea has a tendency of mistranslating titles to be a bit more revealing/spoiling. For example, the Shawshank Redemption was translated as the Shawshank Escape.

I wonder if this could be a slight hint to what the play would be about.

I think I'll just try to have faith in Jo. I'm quite excited about Albus being the focus of the play.

The ticket prices are much lower than I expected them to be. Now I'll simply have to save up enough money for the flight. And for the stay in London.

I wonder if this play would count as part of the Harry Potter canon...

Personally I would say that the script is canon (as it's written by JKR) but the performance (including props) isn't. Same for the Fantastic Beasts movie.

Was just thinking about the cast. I imagine they'll pick a largely unknown cast--experienced, professional stage actors--but that Harry Potter will be played by a big name star.

So who do we think might play Harry, if they were to cast a known actor? They'd have to be the right age (30s, or able to play someone in their 30s), have the right look, probably have at least some stage experience, and most likely will be British.

If he wasn't already playing Hamlet I would suggest Benedict Cumberbatch. Tom Hiddleston, perhaps?

Daniel Radcliffe? Or has he definitely been ruled out? He's British, got stage experience, has the look, and could pass for thirties easily enough, I'd have thought. Seems simpler than getting someone else.

If not Radcliffe, then I don't think they'd go with another megastar. Known, probably, but not Cumberbatch or Hiddleston (quite apart from the fact that I can see Hiddleston more as Tom Riddle than Harry.

James Macavoy maybe? I doubt Daniel Radcliffe would return sadly, even if he has done stagework before. He's already said multiple times he want's to put his Harry Potter years behind him.

McAvoy would be great. Got a good ear for accents,
Phenomenal actor and he'd bring a sense of gravitas and strength to the Head Auror that Potter is meant to be. Don't know if it'll be him though. Hiddleston would be good but I'd like him to do a different accent for it as opposed to his natural one

I checked out IMDb. Looks like McAvoy is in Pre-Production for two movies: Split(2017) and The Coldest City(2016). I'm not too savvy on how much time he would need to rehearse for a two part play but it doesn't look too good. It's a shame because I would prefer a fresh face over Radcliffe.

On that same note, we're inevitably going to see new actors for Ginny, Ron, and Hermione.

Sophie Turner would be awesome for Ginny. She DID grow up in Warwick so the accent wouldn't be too bad.

While Sophie Turner would make a great Ginny(certainly better than Bonnie Wright), she's only nineteen and this story apparently takes place after the Epilogue. She could play one of the Weasley's though, like perhaps Victorie is a redhead?

Turner is, and feels, to young to play Ginny. She isn't in her twenties yet.

Actors aside: methinks that the play will mainly carter to parents and children. Parents will recognize the position Harry is in. Children will see themselves in Albus with the pressure from adults and friends (e.g. school).

Victorie sounds like a better, you're right.

I'm just desperate to make sure Bonnie Wright is nowhere the franchise ever again.

Here's my new go at it(All in their 30's):

    Lydia Wilson-Ginny

    Carey Mulligan-Hermione

Ben Whishaw-Harry (At least he has the messy hair thing going)

    Arthur Darvill-Draco

I spent too much time speculating and deciphering their schedules:facepalm

Huh. I wouldn't have ever thought of Arthur Darvill as Draco, but based on that picture at least, it's actually a pretty good match.

Sort of off-topic: Shinysavage, your avatar for Harry in mid-40s?

I was really disappointed when finding out that it was only a west end play. Off to London for me then lol

Any speculation on whether or not "Harry Potter and the cursed Child " will eventually come to the USA?

Edit: MOVED. Why would anyone post this in the Questions thread? -Sesc
