I still say its fake even though this article seems to contradict my theory...

 

I just can't see JKR spending her time sending out a fake as well written(though poorly plotted) as this one when she could be rolling around in her endless piles of Euros. I think that this was truly a leak and we are getting the first look at how disappointing DH is going to be.

 

The tape thing bothered the hell out of me, I wondered why they did that, if not to just hold the bloody cover back.

Looks like the leak is real, after all. Here is a statement posted by the staff of amazon.com on the Deathly Hallows page:

How does the staff of amazon.com know anything about the books? As far as I know you can buy it from them that doesn't mean they get to read it before anyone else. At least do so legaly.

 

Hold on a second. Is there any word of Scholastic pursuing legal action, or even being a bit angry at the NY Times for this? You would think that this would fall under JKR's wishes that the book be kept secret. To me, this whole thing seems like a blatant publicity hoax on the part of Scholastic and JKR. If, indeed, there is no word about this from DH's publishers, I think that they might have gotten the NY Times in on the conspiracy as well...

Yeah, I figured that out this morning. After HBP, I guess I was hoping for something better. The title of this thread is the title of the first article I found and the general theme of the rest, by the way, not my opinion. The url was just changed to that of a newer article.
