I liked it and am looking forward to the next chapter. It's definately different, but in one of those totally unexpected good ways.

 

I liked it up until the gushing over Herm and Ginny.

That ruined it for me sorry =(

 

I honestly don't really like this one all that much, for a variety of reasons. The biggest one being the extent to which the fic seems to blatantly pander to sweaty palmed fanboys (come on, it has the word "harem" in the title). Harry having a huge following of like FORTY or more Muggle girls before starting Hogwarts and then gathering another one composed of witches while still on the bloody train is just completely ridiculous. I know that complaint sounds rather hypocritical coming from me, as Harry gets more arse than a toilet seat in Prince of Darkness and has a small entourage of his own in Happy Red Prince, but I digress. He also seems to be far too comfortable and experienced with his own sexuality for an eleven year old boy, already being an adept kisser and having the aura of smooth and all that. I almost stopped reading when he got a damned magical trunk. Words cannot express how much I hate that plot device. It seems like everything done in Power of Time is invariably emulated in a hundred other fics. It shows a complete lack of originality. I could also do without him having five wands, having a pet snake, being able to do wandless magic, et cetera. And I needn't even comment on Hermione and Ginny. It's a good plot idea overall, but one in danger of being ruined due to the author running ridiculously over the top with it and employing a myriad of crappy cliched plot devices.

NEw chapter up. I gotta tell ya'll. If you are not reading this story, get with it. Its very cool. PLus who wouldn't want over 40 girls to fulfill their every sexual fantasy, eh... Anyway, right off the bat Harry doesn't like DUmbledore, which for me, is always a good start (unless you make it stupid and fuck it up.)

 

Yeah... except the problem is he's 11, prolly couldn't GET wood and use it unless he was holding a bludger bat atm, and is totally not believable as a P-i-m-p at that age.

I think thats what Harry is though now. A guy who gives kisses to girls that aren't "real" kisses in the sense that I doubt he's working his tongue in their. But yeah, I see your point. My big thing though is that I have ALWAYS hated Dumbledore even b4 the 5th book came out. THe first one I did like him in, and I like most of you (even though most of you will deny it now) thought the threat to the Philosopher's Stone was real at the time. My big issues with him came at the end of the second book where Harry is getting picked on and he doesn't do shit. Then mid-way thru the book Harry learns he is a parselmouth and freaks out when he learns its signifigance (as most 12 year olds would). Here, Dumbledore CHOOSES not to re-assure Harry and tell him HOW he became a Parselmouth until the very end letting the kid stew in his status as a pariah and being accused of things. At this point I re-read the Philospher's stone ( became a fan after a British friend recommended the first two books to me, became HUGE fan after Azkaban) and I wondered what kind of man would let a person like SNape teach children and here is what I concluded at the time (now I think Dumbledore was just being partially manipulative but I still mostly believe this.) Dumbledore is WAY out of touch and should be removed from his position as Headmaster, this is reflected in his belief that he wanted Harry to "enjoy his youth" (i'm paraphrasing) WHAT THE FUCK though, I think Harry lost his innocence a while ago. I had a rough childhood and I'm telling you, if a person had Harry's guilt complex (see Cedric's death) than they just wouldn't survive. Period. People from those situations either end up giant pussies who try and please everyone (see Neville LOngbottom as an example) to avoid being yelled at or they end up saying "FUCK YOU" back to the world and the people who did this and realize they weren't at fault (see Tom Riddle but turn the volume WAY DOWN). Anyway, I got off track here, so um, yeah. Harry, though is neither of these two, which indicates that JK has very little hands on experience of a rough childhood (good for her by the way) as I just don't see Harry surviving and coming out the way he has.

Fcuk, I'm way off course here so I'm just gonna post, but Harry should be tougher anyway was my point and I hate Dumbledore.

I pretty much see it a similar way, as does 90%+ of the ppl here, pretty much why most of us enjoy darkish fanfiction.

Theres simply no way in hell a person with the guilt complex Harry has should still be able to be on the light side.

Either he'd get tired of it, and go fricking whacko, or like you said,

I personally did not like Dumbles from the end of book 1.

Theres no way in hell he realistically made those challenges, that a first year could pass, and intend to keep people out. I'm using an explanation that the true gaurds/wards on the area were signifigantly harder to get through, and he changed the trials to get to it for Harry.

Power of Time has changed fanfiction irrevocably; every damn fic now includes the trunk, the shopping spree, the dark arts books in Knockturn, Gringotts, and I don't know what else. I still remember the fic that started the Heir of Gryffindor thing, as it also spawned lousy sequels.

It's readable; but I personally would've started with Harry a bit older; 13/14 or something.
