You know, Im inclined to agree with nonjon. Why? Because thats the actual sword that Harry has already used. Huh. Who woulda thought? And oldmagic, WHY would Harry, and ENGLISH wizard, use a katana, a JAPANESE sword? Him, being Harry and having NO formal, in-depth education on the world outside of Great Britain, he wouldn't even know what a katana is! Think some stuff out before you post it. I learned that the hard way.

 

first of all i was talking about the fic not the canon. what the hell do you think this fourm for anyway. ring any bells.
besides harry was forced to use that sword in signs of danger, of couse having a giant snake on your ass is only making matters worse. harry dosn't even have a wand. anyone would've instinctly used any weapon no matter what they are as long as they survive. surviving is human's nature.

 

You can throw that attitude out the door right now. This forum doesn't need any bickering or personal jabs at the moment. As PC is going to link to here we need to keep the forum in line.

Back on topic, I read this a while ago and liked it, now it's not worth the time I spent reading it.

but nonjon that belongs to the school...and when has harry ever used anything that belonged to the school...other then the dorm and the bathroom...? Besides nonjon my sword look cooler that the that one.

 

i would thiknk that harry is more likely to use a standard single handed broad sword, than anything massively fancy.

I like katanas, don't get me wrong, I even practice some kendo occasssionally, I also take part in battle re-enactment, and I tink that for the use that Harry would put a sword to, a broadsword would fit much ebtter than a katana. Katanas are fine duelling weapons, not war weapons supposed to do as much damage as possible with a single strike. Most broadsword weren't sharper than a table knife, it was the weight that counted, Katanas, are sharp enough to cut through whole trees with a single swipe.


However, for this fic, I think the katana fits the plot.
