Meh. This is pretty much the definition of a guilty pleasure fic. I've read it, and it's on my favourites and alerts, but it's hardly good enough for the library. Super!Harry who rips apart any opposition and is capable of anything on the battlefield or in the bedroom works decently for a bit to form some funny dialogue, but as the premise of a more ambitious fic, it fails. It's not even particularly great as a crackfic or farce, and pretty much all the characters are rather sadly done. The only selling point this fic has is the humorous lines and situations, but those aren't good enough.

    2.5/5, rounded down, no more.

It was okay at best. Super!Harry just doesn't float for me and I had difficulty following the crossover. Definitely not library-worthy imo. Would be more appropriate in Almost Recommendable. 3/5

Looked it up, and the movie is based off of the destroyer series:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Destroyer_(fiction)
'A very long-lasting men's adventure series' has to be doing something right.

Finished through chapter 9, and the only semblance of conflict was with...
...dementors. Initially, Harry is overcome entirely without being able to fight back. Then Chiun, the father of Chuck Norris and Jesus, waltzes in, saves him, and then Harry !kills the dementors by physically tearing them apart.
The characterization in that scene at least is interesting, because seeing a character's greatest fear is an easy means for any author to add depth, but the lack of conflict does destroy this story.

For anyone who hasn't started this yet, imagine "Make a Wish" by Rorschach's Blot. Then remove most of the humor, make the death eater attack squads all die horrible deaths at the bare hands of Harry Potter the superninja instead of various humorous accidents, and take out the travelling as well. Voila, you now have Harry Potter and the Sun Source.

This is one of those cases where you may have to be familiar with, and enjoy, the source material to really enjoy the story.

Not to understand it, because it's not exactly complicated. It's that, otherwise, Harry just seems like an invincible Gary-Stu.

It's actually a crossover with (the series that spawned) the movie Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins. :awesome

Well, he does appear in this story much more than the paltry few scenes Remo has.

I mean in the books. At first I thought the Remo link was a book series, but it's a movie instead. I'd really like to read these Destroyer books if Chiun is the main character or something.

Chuin is to Remo as Hermione/Ron are to Harry, is the best to way describe Chuin's role in The Destroyer series. Remo is the main character and Chuin is his mentor and adopted father (after a few books, anyway).

The books are definitely worth a read (the first hundred in the series, at any rate). This crossover falls so short of the original writing that I think he may be influenced by the later novels (any book written after 1994 is pretty much worthless in this series, too many flaky authors).

There are also comics about the destroyer series that marvel produced a few decades ago. It's a good series to read, especially The master and Remo's interactions. Who knew eating a simple cheeseburger is fatal to the second apprentice of sinanju?

I mostly agree with the sentiments expressed above. Maybe it's better if you know the source material, but since I'm only looking at it from the HP perspective, this does seem ridiculous at times. But it is clear that the "objective", killing Voldemort, is not really the focal conflict, even though it drives the plot. It's the background to awesome!Harry coming to Hogwarts, being in conflict with Dumbledore and killing people. As well as having sex, of course.

This may make it sound worse than it is - it's still enjoyable, technically well done (spelling et al) and does contain some humour. I think 3/5 and the recycling bin are apropriate.

It's been a few years since I've read the Destroyer series (or some of it). But, my faulty memory tells me that it was a mildly amusing series. In it, there were no real threats to Chiun or Remo. Their Kung-foo was too strong;-) It was just fun pulp. No redeeming literary value, beyond a light read and an interesting premise. Kinda like a Korean James Bond, with more humor.

This story fits right into that mold.

and I think in Almost recommendable as well.

It's great if you are in the mood for a cliche riddled super!Harry fic, but all in all it is average. It has some good and perhaps even great moments while other parts are (almost) awesomely bad:

Then they drive to his hotel (Savoy) where they...

Well, if you know nothing about the stuff its crossedover with, then you won't enjoy it. I know this, because I know nothing about the xover, and thus had no clue as to what was going on.

Beyond that, the writing seems like absolute clell average, that is to say mediocre in all aspects, but technically sound.

It looks like I'm quite the reciprocal of Mordecai on this one:

If you know nothing about the stuff it's crossed-over with then you will still enjoy it. I know this, because I know nothing about the xover, and thus had no clue as to what was going on.

    But I still enjoyed it.

Beyond that, the writing is classic clell, that is to say high-quality and entertaining, as well as technically sound.

    :)

Seriously, sure, super-Harry - ridiculously so - scoring negative ten on the dramatic tension meter, but there's still some good fun/interesting plot threads to pick up. Like the battle between Riddle and Fleur, or the gang of Hogwarts 'misfits' and their actions, the anti-Dumbledore sentiment, the running sex - is it thirty-one steps? - gag, no doubt others.

    He probably did.

OT: Story is shit. I wish I had better commentary to offer, but I can't even classify this as a "guilty pleasure". I had to struggle through most of the beginning - probably through my sheer lack of interest in the story.

    2/5 for spelling and grammar.

I have read it, and I can't say that I liked it.

It maybe scrapes something of a 3, but I'm leaning more to a 2...
The plot... Hmm, I don't know, there definitely IS one, but it's just hanging on the whole super harry concept.

Yes, sometimes it's fun to read a super harry ones, to the point of guilt, where he blasts through his foes. Yes, there were fun moments. Some.

But all in all, the fun never reached the quality levels. Perhaps it's because I have never read the series, but it just might be that there is a horrible lack of conflict. Rorschach's Blot writes better.

    So, 2/5.

    Nauro.

The story is actually one of my least favorite Clell works. While he's not a favorite author of mine, he does generally have interesting ideas that are fun to read. This story though just reads as a drag, because the Sinaju is just too strong.

    3/5

I'm being generous, but this story is simply average in every way.

Clell completed it now. Its ending is matching the rest, regardless of how you rate it. I think it still needs an epilogue, but Clell labelled it as complete.

The last chapter lacks a climax, but it actually is a fitting end for a super!Harry story.

Harry visited Voldemort's hideout and killed first his inner circle and then Voldemort on the fly while making small talk. If you overpower Harry that much, then that's exactly the way the story should end.

Later he picked up Fleur, shagged (or whatever he is doing) her and her mum (with entire Hogwarts listening), and that was it.

I still hold my vote: 3/5.

At least some aspects of it were funny as hell.

Hermione saying NO to the offer of carrying Harry's son, even though she had the hots for Harry through the entire fic. As well as master Chiun's pearls on marital bliss.

    High points. True high points...

I agree, that scene really was good and funny, topped by its last lines:

"I don't really think…" Hermione said trying to change the subject before she learned more about the old man than she really wanted to know.

"Of course you don't," Chiun sighed as he walked away, already plotting a different way to get his magical child, "that is the curse of your gender."

but later on that sequence was ruined by Harry asking Hermione "And you said no?" over and over again.

That's the problem with Clell: His few awesome scenes are hidden under a pile of average or sub par stuff.
