Chapter 2 of Death's Knight is up. :)

EDIT: Harry's persuit of Karan seems believable, but something just feels...forced about it. Is it just me?

Also, Neville made me laugh - dwarves?

Dumbledore being a...well, one of them? The mental imagery, oh God!

I'd say Dumbledore leans more towards the Compassion side of the spectrum, but with all the shit that's been going on with the Indigo Tribe I don't think it'd be a viable choice.
If you weren't going for the humor factor, however, I think the best choice would have been a Blue Ring, if not an Indigo one.

Good stuff, but it seems really short and lacks progression besides some interactions. Despite that, this is shaping up to be real fun.

I think Dumbledore's ring color is appropriate enough, but I hope we don't see too much of him beyond these little meetings. Dumbledore has a way of hogging attention in whatever story he's in. Just, please, no imagery of him in uniform. Please.

I don't think it would be as revealing as version for females. Judging from two males that in a way were in Star Sapphire Corps (Abraham Pointe as the host of the Predator and Guy Gardner though he was using also a red ring at the time) I'd say that it's an exact opposite with them.

That reminded me of this in Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors
Just a little set up: All the 2814 Lanterns lost the power to their rings at one point so they have to chose from rings from the other Corps in order to fight the bad guy.

Updated, though the pacing of the story has resumed its glacial pace. The author's response is to 'be patient' (as seen in review replies), but...

I just read the second chapter of Death's Knight and I was wondering, has anyone ever considered giving Harry a Violet Ring? It seems like an obvious vehicle for a crossover but that might just be me.

Another question - is it possible to write a good mutant!Harry or Harry/X-Men crossover?

Giving him a mutant ability seems redundant when he has magic. Unless magic is removed in favor of that mutant ability, in which case why even use Harry Potter in the first place?

Harry's never been one to promote the "love can conquer all" crowd until the end of DH and even then it was iffy. I can see Rage in OOtP or even Will in DH, but none of the others.

Mutant!Harry? Yeah, the need for it is minimal because of magic, but a crossover would be quite possible. Though I'd stay away from "Harry goes to the mansion and interacts with 150 mutants" stories. I can only think of one of those that has worked out and even that one has been in limbo for a year or so.

An X-Men cross would work out with a much smaller team, like at the beginning, or with one or two mutants to deal with (for the most part.) Additionally, I'd use someone else other than Wolverine, because that tends to lead to MPreg and that's never good.

Maybe a Morlock story or perhaps Harry in Limbo with Magik.

Marauders Era cross with X-Men (I have no clue whether it's the films or the comics).

The HP characters seemed believable enough, but I've never read the X-Men comics, so I can't speak for them. The writing itself is nothing special - no glaring errors, but no extraordinary prose either.

I was going to stick this in the Almost Recommended thread, but I thought it'd be more suited to this thread.
Right now it's sitting somewhere in the 2/5-3/5 range for me.

Curious. Is there a reason you haven't started your own CB story?

Between my attempts to continue on my Naruto story A Different World, plus an attempted novelization of Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (framework and direction has been established!), tentative reboots of Scooby Doo (ala Supernatural), Thundercats & Generator Rex, an in-depth attempt at studying how differently the Middle East would be today if the Al Saud raid on Riyadh in 1902 ended with the death of the family's patriarch (particularily as relating to the success of a Faisal-Weizmann agreement resulting in an alternate Israel prior to WW2), my creating a mod for a wrestling simulator game I play, playing Crusader Kings 2, watching DVDs of a lot of my favorite movies (Carlito's Way, ftw) and streams of my favorite shows (Royal Pains on the alt tab at the moment), trying to have a coherent timeline in place for my New 52 project for each individual Earth and the starting titles I envisioned (leaving aside the half-hearted study I could do best with a crossing over with Harry Potter), a lot of family drama and problems and this massive inability to concentrate totally on whatever I'm currently doing without getting hung-up on one of the others, I'm kinda not feeling optimistic on starting a Captain Britain fanfic.

    Few new ones on FFn, but;

    1. Very sloppily written, no real depth. Characterizations are absolute shite, and the narrative writing is just terrible - grammar problems aside. That, and James and Lily weren't his parents; that alone turned me off reading it. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8165169/1/Hush_Little_Baby

    2. Is slash - Harry being J'onn's butt-buddy, so the story isn't worth mentioning. Plus, the author has tried to make a big stink by moving to another site, due to the whole FFn purge thing going on. Good riddance. No way in Hell am I linking that.

    3. A Fem!Harry story - haven't read it, no idea about its quality. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8194516/1/The_Heart_of_Everything

    Someone's a fan of Heather's story, I see. :p

    1. I agree
    2. I think I read the first sentence in that story and promptly closed my browser after.
    3. Don't you love crossovers with fem!Harry that change his entire name, gender, background, attitude, everything that made Harry, Harry, and then substitute him with an OC. That's what this story is.

    4. WTF! If he has a black power ring I'm whipping out his balls, a cheese grater, and some cayenne pepper sauce.

See, this is why I don't generally mention my shitty ideas online.

Particular to my situation: I know, at the rate I write, that I would never get a story out before someone else took the idea and wrote their own with it.

Shit, I have that problem with stuff I don't mention at all. I come up with something and think, "Huh... I've never seen this in any fic before, this is a pretty cool idea." Then I write a little something with it, move on to another fic, and... eventually see five stories on FFN that employ my idea, because someone else was bound to come up with it, too, eventually.

If only I could swap out my brain for a new one with a faster CPU, multithreading... and, perhaps, just a touch less porn cluttering the hard drive.
