Read it before, went over and read it again.

I'm mildly fond of the genre personally but honestly it doesn't really do it for me. If I hadn't read the other, better fics from the genre then I'd probably have enjoyed it more but to be honest it really just fell flat.

I mean its not bad. It just fails utterly at being origional, it doesn't even really have an origional slant on old ideas.

This fic certainly fails muster by traditional DLP standards and is definitely not Library material. However it did inspire enough curiosity that I went through the whole fic. 2/5 at best.

 

Could you mention any similar HP-themed fics. I like the concept and would like to read some better fics if they exist.

 

I want to like this a lot more than I do. The concept is still refreshing to me, and I'd love to see a "Game" story written well.

That's the problem, the handful of fics that exist aren't all that better. The ones I've come across include:

Harry Potter and the Natural 20 by Sir Poley is probably the best known story in this genre although its D&D and not video game based. It's actually pretty good:
