They might of assumed that the real Moody died. For the paranoid real Moody to have an impostor would most likely mean the real Moody was offed and shaved bald for the polyjuice potions. That's just my opinion on it...

As I said previously, the debate has died out, don't bring it up again.

For two intelligent people, it's a bad assumption to make. Not only is it a wrong assumption, but it seems somewhat logical for the impostor to keep him on hand for questioning.

Is this fic worth reading? I've been avoiding it for some time.

Isn't this the one where he picks up a guitar and plays Hotel California?

Another thing that makes me wary is the guys author page:

Favorite Books: Harry Potter, LOTR/ Hobbit, Star Wars, DaVinci Code, Angels and Demons, Romance of the Three kingdoms (personal fav)

Favorite Movies: Pirates of the Carribean, Casino Royale, The Rock, Transformers, Batman Begins, Face off, Shawshank redemption, I am legend (to name a few)

I mean seriously. This guy has a couple of Dan Brown books on his list, as well as some lame and forgettable movies on his favorite list. I'm not usually an elitist when it comes to books and movies, but this throws up a gigantic red flag. I hate wasting time. Everything points to this fic being a giant waste of time.

    Am I right?

It's a decent fic, IMHO. It starts out a little slow but it steadily improves. It's done a little different from your run of the mill fics and that's what I always look for.

There are about 36 pages of people already talking about the answer to that question. ;)

My opinion is to read the first few chapters to get a feel of what the set up is and then skip straight to where the current year begins. I did this at first, and it's still pretty easy to follow without reading about his early Hogwarts years. If you get confused you could always just skim a bit and once you have alot of time on your hands you could read it fully.

It's not that it's badly written or anything, but reading about a young Harry is barely ever that intriging.

Does anyone here like Dan Brown's books at all?

I wouldn't even care if they guy thought Dan Brown's books were a guilty pleasure, but to put it on a favorite list is just ridiculous and speaks volumes about the dude. I've read them myself and besides Deception Point, they really aren't too bad. They aren't good either, just generic 'car chase' books with a bunch of conspiracy nonsense and religion thrown in.

If I had to rank them on a list of books I've read, they would probably be in the 300-400's or so. Nowhere close to top 50 let alone top 10 like this douchebag.

I'll probably read the first few chapters, but I'm really picky and I doubt I'll be able to stomach much more than a few chapters if Harry is indeed some uppity faggot trying to be cool by playing fucking Hotel California. God that makes me pissed just thinking about it.

It's not like that. Also, I would recommend reading at least 10 chapters before deciding to continue or not.

Dan Brown's books are good for one, count ém, one read a piece. He's a decent writer and all that, he just has the tendency to get repetitive.

@Demon- It's not going to be one of the best fics you've ever read, but it is well above average.

I guess I'll give it a try then. It has to have something reedeming about it if it's generated 37 damn pages of discussion in just a few months.

I tried to read digital fortress and found it horrible. I think the two he names on his list are good reads though. Maybe it's because I know less about religion than science, but when someone starts spouting worthless shit on a subject you know it's a lot harder to swallow....

As for the fic, I thought it was really good midway through, and he updated once or twice a week, but the fic started to really drag some time ago now, and he's updating once a month. Another problem with it is that the author is spending a lot of time trying to make Harry really cool (Hotel California may e a part of that problem, though that was skipable). There are parts about how he expands his room and makes them really posh and it impresses everyone, and how he has the self-insert suit which looks soooo cool. It's mainly filler to hide the lack of plot, but as filler goes it's mostly really good, and once the plot gets going a bit it holds some promise (if it ever does...).

    Damn.
After a three week absence from fan fiction, I was hoping to see at least one update for this story.

The author should not have joined DLP, since then I think it’s been updated only twice.

I disagree. The filler is horrible. It's really ruining the story. For me, it's was going ok, and then Harry turns into a gay Mary Sue. Please, stop making the hero perfect and pretty. Make him more manly and write him actually struggling with something. And update.

    Back to lurking.

I think the author's idea of character flaw is making him an arsehole to his friends, except of course they still treat him like a god. I agree that the whole deification startingly resembles defecation, but I think the filler subplots are enjoyable.

I think he likes the attention and wants us to wait for the update.

Or you know, he's busy with school like I believe he said he would be.

Or maybe he just wants the attention and wishes for us to suffer for updates.

    Whichever makes you happier really.

Dan Brown books are the epitome of human faggotry but I don't see why you're nitpicking those movies. I mean, I hated Transformers and Face Off but Batman Begins and Pirates aren't terrible. Batman was great IMO and Pirates was a good movie cause it was a new shock. And Johnny Depp brings lulz and coolness to every movie.

As for this story, you're something like the 5th person to ask if it's worth reading. Is annoying yes? Read it to like, the 10th or 15th chapter and if you don't like it by then, I would probably stop there. Give it a chance though.

The update rate was the only thing keeping me interested in it. Now that thats dropped off...meh it's not great.

Also most of the pages in this thread consist of Oephyx bitching like a little girl with a superiority complex.
