Edit: After a quick google, I have to say, what the fuck.

I mean, at least it'll put paid to those memes about Nagini being the snake from the zoo in PS.

 

I'd actually prefer the PS zoo snake. At least that snake was always a snake, and never a human being.

Seriously, this is about as unnecessary backstory as you can get. Han Solo's dice thinks it's ridiculous. Did anybody ask for this?

 

Hmm, when I saw the trailer I was like "sweet, a snake animagus". Now I'm just disappointed.

 

I encountered H/Nagini years ago, before JKR said she was human. I wonder what we'll see now.

I'm gonna go ahead and say the whole Nagini thing is fine because a poisonous constricting snake in eastern Europe always struck me as weird as fuck.

 

I hate to be that guy, but snakes aren't poisonous. They're venomous.

I always thought that was weird about her though, because to my knowledge there aren't any venomous constrictors at all anywhere, though I could be mistaken.

EDIT: Then again, snakes don't have ears either AFAIK, so the entire concept of talking to and commanding them is fundamentally flawed from the start.

snakes have ears and they can hear. They just don't have visible external ears.
