Is it bad I want to see the person who made them into books get sued?

 

As far as I read on the subreddit, it's a print job everyone who likes them has to do themselves. So it's not sold per se, but rather contracted by people with bad taste and too much money.

 

And it's impractical. Physical books are useless to me now, except maybe as decoration. Kindle is love, Kindle is life. All my favorite fanfics in my pocket.

 

Kindle will never replace the feeling of having paper in your hands and turning real pages like an actual decent human being. Fight me.

 

I sure did love hauling around a 1000 page book when I was reading The Way of Kings. Oh wait, nope.

 

A book like The Way of Kings needs to be a damn tome. It's for kings. What are you, a prince?

That just says you're horny, for which I'd recommend Kindles anyway on account of fluids being hell to get out of a book.

FWIW, I love traditional books (for leisure as well as studying), but it is definitely more convenient to not have to carry them around whenever I‘m out and about. Hence, if I have the choice, I tend to buy on a case-to-case basis. If I can foresee that I‘ll have to travel quite a bit in the near future, I‘m more likely to buy an electronic copy first.

In the case of university-related material, I tend to only purchase physical copies, with the odd exception made only when there‘s absolutely no other option.

A couple of months ago, I read a couple of articles in David Finkelstein’s Book History Reader on, among other things, the development of technology as a means to access literary content. From memory, the one that stayed with me most was Walter Ong’s fairly well-known – at least among Cultural Studies people – piece “Orality and Literacy: Writing Restructures Consciousness” (which might have itself been essentially a best-of from his most well-known work Orality and Literacy, which I have never read in its entirety). As far as I can recall, it made some interesting points. If anyone’s interested, the whole BHR can be found here.

And just to corroborate my point made above, I used the copy from the unviersity library instead of the Google Books one.
