Harry Potter In Real Life

Why does Harry Potter part sound like a begining of a crazy awesome story, like Harry finally deciding to not give a fuck?

 

I'm pretty sure a bunch of those are just made up. "Something he didn't have last time." was only said in book 5 twice, and I'm fairly certain that's the only time that line was used.

 

Twice could be often enough to be on that list since they searched (I assume) single sentences and not repeated sequences of words.

 

I can believe the twilight one though. Epitome of writing skill right there. At least Rowling was writing for 8-14 year olds.

 

It's been a good while, but I don't remember Twilight being in first person.

My sister bought the first few books and read them, but then she couldn't wait for the last one to be translated so she bought it in English. Her English is shit, so I had to read it and describe it to her. After that I picked up the others out of curiosity.

Don't judge me, I was very bored that period. Plus I wanted to see what all the hype was about.

 

I read the twilight series just so I knew for sure it was awful. Needless to say I didn't need to go farther than the first book to confirm my hypothesis.

 

Nothing wrong with reading Twilight. Same thing for Shades of Grey. They did something right. Might as well know what it was.

Although I agree in principle, having read the 50 Shades trilogy it's hard to pin down anything it did right to merit such success.

 

What Twilight did right was the marketing. You'd have been better off reading the publishing company's business plan.

 

They delivered a guilty pleasure for many that nobody else did. Well, somebody probably did, but the trick was to promote it to people that normally wouldn't search for it.

 

Granted, but that's marketing, not an inherent quality of the book.

 

And there is nothing else to it. Find a niche and exploit before anyone else. Quality helps, but is not necessary for your success. It just needs to be passable for majority.
