Ron, who turned his back on his friend (understandably, but still happened) and had random fits of jealousy that seem entirely out of place for his character (oh hi, i'm 11 years old. Harry I believe in you so much i'll put my life in danger so you can save the day. Oh you're a parseltongue? I'm going to ignore the social stigma because I trust you. I'm injured in a shack with a dangerous convict? It's a trap save yourself!). Hermione became less rule-abiding over time, both of which are corruptions of their character in my eyes.

 

Didn't she mention around before HPB that something was coming up that she had debated putting into the second book but ended up leaving out? I'm pretty sure that was about the diary being a horcrux.

Obviously, the idea that carrying one would affect the person negatively is another one entirely...

 

Harry had protection from Voldemort. I agree that the Horcrux effecting people doesn't work in canon, but Harry himself is easy to fit into the theory.
