If it's just Newt Scamander drawing bowtruckles, it'll become a cult classic.

And everyone would hate it.

 

Until Joss Whedon picked it up for a short lived TV show, right Lungs?

 

Equal parts trepidation and excitement about this one. I keep imagining the first part of the Hobbit and the newest Wizard of Oz movie, neither of which were even an iota of how good they could have been, though both movies were passable. I sense that this will fall into the same category, though it has a lot of potential simply due to the fact that we know nothing about Newt Scamander, and yet, everything about Harry Potter. If she can keep the good clever things about the world and broaden it to fit in wizarding America (among other countries) then it will be a success.

Surprised no one has said this yet: THINK OF THE FANFICTION THAT WILL COME OF THIS. It might give the fan base a push and give us new life in that regard, whether it sinks or swims.

 

I'm absolutely convinced this will be great. Only way to ruin it is hiring that Shamanan dude.

 

They could give it to David Yates, which wouldn't be much better. The story will have effects but will be driven by characters, and I really despised how Yates would leave actors floundering on the screen.

His poor direction made Ginny seem (more) like a stalker, Molly a grumpy housefrau and Voldemort little more than a freak. Let's hope for a better director.

It's hard not to grin at Evanna Lynch's evergreen enthusiasm for Harry Potter. I find it endearing.

I know, right? We may get some more information about various creatures and magical cultures, either of which could inject some inspiration and enthusiasm into the fan fic community.

He shouldn't even be allowed to make home movies... not even in Super 8.

 

This is definitely a push for new fanfics. And NUNDUS! And more Dragons! And we could even get the Sphinx that was denied to us, though I doubt it. And if it goes really well, no doubt we will probably see a movie about quidditch. I don't know but I get the feeing it would be about the First World Cup. Or is just wishful thinking.

 

8 ‘Harry Potter’ Spin-off Films We Want To See.

If a movie is a huge success WB will probably try to create a cinematic universe out of it like Disney is trying to do with Star Wars. They even may be more successful with it than they are with DC franchise.

 

I would watch every single one of those films.

 

I want to know the canon status of this film. Since it will be created by Jo, is it canon to the books and Pottermore? Or will it be canon only to the movies?

 

What I want to know is... will Inverarity feel honored or offended when JKR's version of magical America bears more than a passing resemblance to the world of Alexandra Quick?

 

I'm not expecting it to have nearly that much depth, honestly...

 

Well, there was a pandemic in the early 20th century that killed about 50 to 100 million people...

 

The way I see it the movie could go in a few different directions:

1. A big part of the FB book was the debates surrounding being vs. creature classification. Some kind of political thriller.

2. Indiana Jones style action adventure but with magical beasts. This seems the most likely.

3. "Magical Nazis" stuff tying in with Grindelwald.

 

I was going to say the same.

I think that including Albus as a supporting character and having Gellert's rise to power as one of the subplots may be necessary for this movie's full financial success. Otherwise it could be a little risky to have a movie in Harry Potter world without Harry Potter or any other character that the audience is familiar with.

We all know this is going to be some incoherent pseudo Judeo-Christian allegorical nonsense. Probably with a hackneyed, awkward and poorly characterized romance sub-plot thrown in.

This will be the final nail in the coffin for Harry Potter.
