lmao :D , good fic, although do you think they say "one year, three months, two weeks, four days, seven hours, thirteen minutes and twenty six seconds" enough?

Has anyone re-read this since Fangalla Marie re-ordered it and can compare it to what it used to be? I read like the first 35 chapters or so. I think there were something like 38 before it got revised or recompiled or re-edited. But I know there's only 19 or so chapters now.

Is it worth re-reading from the start if we want to see what's new?
Hilarious fic, without a doubt. Though near the end it was getting a bit too realistic/angsty/slashy and fearfully repetitive the last few chapters I read. Scenes with Harry nearly an incapable invalid and Seamus helping to wash him and steal a glance and squeeze or something was the jumping the shark moment for me.

Just wondering if whenever the chapters got combined or re-organized, if it warrants re-reading.

I'd like to know too... this fic has some cool jokes, but they are repeated too often to stay fresh.

It was good fic to start. Real funny.... but then the implied slashyness set in and then came the angst and the inner turmoil.... After that it wasn't as funny anymore.

This story seems to have started out as the best thing since sliced bread, but the last couple of reviews and ratings indicates that it went down hill into angst and slash.

Because of the great reviews it got at first, I'm hesitating to trash it, so I'm putting it up for review again.

It has a lot of funny parts, and the way it lampoons so many of the stories we considered classic Azkaban!Harry always makes me smile. The sexuality is blatant but light hearted. Too bad Fangalla Marie has fallen off the planet. 4/5

I read two or three chapters. If I didn't know it's genre I'd say it's real Azkaban story with lots of angst and cliches. It was a chore to read every single bit of first 3 or 4 chapters I read.
The only laugh it gave me was for Harry's repetitive statement how long he was in Azkaban.
It isn't caricature when it feels too real.
    2/5.

wtf?! I rated it 2/5 and it jumped to 3 stars ;o (from

Funnily enough, I was sitting in class on my lab top about three days ago, bored out of my mind, and turned this story on as I've honestly never read it before ...

problem is, I didn't find it amusing in the slightest. If I had to rate it, I might just give it a two. Maybe. Actually, no, I'm not going to be that friendly. It was a story from a time when people were less critical and more open to the fact that this was 'fanfiction'. Back then, I would have enjoyed it and maybe found the attempts at humor funny. Now, my sense of humor has matured with my body and mind and this is, honestly, garbage.

I've never liked Azkaban!Harry stories, and this fic does an excellent job of showing this genre's many faults. As a parody it fails however, and fails hard.

It would have been tolerable as a one-shot, but the current version isn't worth the space it occupies. I sort of enjoyed Harry embarrassing the professors, but all the slashy references made me gag. The author notes in the middle of chapters are also off-putting.

I stopped reading this when Harry didn't evacuate Hogwarts the first chance he got. It will probably only get worse from heron out, so I decided to spare my eyes the pain.

Assuming you did get the right read on those, your vote moved the total from (5 x 2.4 = ) 12 to (5 x 2.6 = ) 13 without adding to the vote count.

So one of those five votes before you voted 2/5 was one of your own, and you previously voted the fic 1/5 (total goes up one, vote count stays the same). It doesn't display half stars, it just rounds up or down. 2.4 displays two stars, 2.6 displays three.

    It makes sense.

As for the fic, well, at the time this was fucking hilarious. But also at the time were shitloads and shitloads of completely unrealistic Azkaban fics.

Eppy is still and probably always will be a great character.

But there are moments where it takes itself too seriously. And the funny isn't so funny. Dunno if it lost some of the magic when Fangalla re-edited the thing from 38 or so chapters down to 20, or if it's just the three years since I read it.

I'm pretty sure three years ago, this would've breezed past For Review and found a welcome place in the library. Now I'm not so sure.

3/5 seems about the highest I can give it, when it's lacking the quality I expect from 4/5 or 5/5.

Somewhere in between 2 and 3.

Almost every time I reread a parody it turns out to be disappointing because I remember too many elements. Without the funny parts it is reduced to stereotypes you'll find in most Azkaban fics.

It also is too long. That doesn't matter that much if you follow a story while it is written because you are forced to enjoy it in small doses (a chapter every other week or so) - but it soon becomes boring when you read it in one go.

Another problem is that not just this one but most humor fics go downhill after a while. Rated early on they are praised by the audience but soon the author runs out of fresh ideas and new jokes. The repetitive elements, in this case the Azkaban clichés, eventually are killing the rest.

That said: It's the same with most fics in Humor/Parody. If we would reevaluate the bookshelf, stories like "Make a Wish", "So Sue Me", and even half of Nonjon's stuff would hardly be rated as high as before. Quite a lot of them would be trashed.

Wasn't really all that funny. It had its good parts, but it was mostly just an intentional re-hashing of every Azkaban cliche out there, which in my book = fail.
