This story...tedious in a word. The author made a wrong decision and chose the wrong story to focus on in my eyes.

The chapters are very long. While in a great fic this is a plus, it just makes the whole thing seem more dull.

The relationship between Harry and his mum is so cringeworthy. Honestly, I've never seen anything like it! "I love you the best mum" etc. Some scenes border on incest. Harsh, but true.

Even this would be excusable if the story had a plot. 100,000 words later and I'm wondering when the hell anything's gonna happen. There's no character conflict, Harry's shadow mage powers have disappeared out of sight recently and the author is caught up on a love triange between 11 year olds for fuck sake! "Oh i love Ginny. No I love Yuna."

What annoys me the most is that this story had soooo much potential! It could've reached the dizzying heights of some of Shezza's fics even. A waste of a great skeleton in my eyes.

This isn't an attak on SilverAegis, just a scathing revie for this particular fic.

Is it just me or are there no stories worth reading past the first chapter anymore. They're either bloated, tedious or so badly written that it is humanly impossible to appreciate the plot.

Quoting you, good fics and authors are indeed a dying breed.

Interesting in some parts and weird in others like the Lily/Harry thing which is effing creepy BOTH Lilys (Little sister) in fact.

Anime parts bugged me. Some things just don't mix. Harry Potter and demon heads being one of them.

The family interaction just seems fake to me. It's too perfect. No conflicts.

    I totally agree.

Sometimes I find a decent story but its like finding a needle in a haystack, because I have to find new stories that are decent and that I haven't already read.

I do enjoy some aspects of this fic, but the 11 yr old with a 17's sex drive and his obsession with Ginny were bothersome. But in reality I'm so monumentally sick of pairings in general that I am currently writing my own time travel fic where Harry's sex drive is painfully absent. or just permenantly damaged, I haven't decided which yet. I've reached the conclusion that its the only way to purge the feeling of unoriginality and boredom I get everywhere I go in ficland thesedays.

Breaking Ties by IP82. I don't spoon feed unfortunately so you'll have to find the link on your own in the 'Independent Harry' section.

I think you are all being a bit harsh. It is a good story. Yes, the anime parts were annoying. The whole "Harry worship" thing was a bit gag worthy, but it was a lot better than most stories found on the site.

Take what you can get, I figure.

Strangely, i find myself enjoying the fix. Sure, Harry's a momma's boy and it sounds very anime-ish and the dirty dancing really bothered me and the chapter with the time guardian was badly written but I like it... Weird...

No great conflict in this story though. Almost all the chapters are fillers.

I think it's just one of those stories you can't help but find entertaining no matter what happens.

It's entertaining, yeah. But I just can't take it seriously. It would be good with: better characterization, less of the "Mum, you are so beautiful, if I were older I would marry you," less of the Harry worship, less "Damn straight!" phrases (the author seems obsessed with it), less of the encouraging of 11 year olds and 10 year olds to kiss and get together, less of 17 yo's finding Harry attractive, and finally less of the "bro" comments. The HP universe ain't set in America, dumbass. If all those were taken away, this would probably be one of my favorite fics. Right now...I just find it good for a light read.

what i like the most about the fic is its focus on daily life. in other fics there is an event, major one, in every chapter and it is bombarding us. here the chapters are long and although there is an event in every chapter, the event does not take the whole chapter.

Agis is one of my favourite writers on the net and while i agree with the "bro" and "damn straight" commetns, i like this fic a lot.

it is just nice and fun to read.

Those comments made it grate on my nerves. It was too Oedipal and pussy-whipped Harry for me to enjoy it.

Pretty much anything written by SilverAegis is usually excellent.
