I want to say I'm surprised/disgusted. But I'm just resigned. It was inevitable that someone woulf pick that topic. Doen't mean I will click it.

HONKs is fun to read if Tonks is Tonks. The a fun loving person but can be serious when she needs to be. I like that blend. It gives her a certain appeal IMO. This story... wasn't something like this done before? I distinctly remember a story where Harry had to wed into the Black family to keep the fortune from Voldies hands. Of course he chose Tonks.

 

yes its been done quite a few times nifler. Thats why i complained. I can deal with a Heavey plothole story once, but when its gets repeated into cliche it gets annoying.

Her personality is why i like harry/tonks so much. If you continue after ootp his mood and state of mind most likely really needs someone like tonks. The only issue is finding some reason why she needs him.

Its funny when i read honks and she says how caring, couragous, brave, selfsacrificing, ect, he is, and thats why she likes him. Becuase that really exactly what im like and im telling ya in 90% of the cases unless you temporarily change your additude you are NOT going to get laid or have any girls fawing after you. You 'might' get away with it if your good looking enough to attract an older women who wants more of a 'seddledown' guy, but thats pushing your luck. If you pull a Normal Harry additude youll most likely get stuck in a "friend zone", and damn does that suck. I learned to stay away from that shit the hard way.
Unfortuantly most people who try to rectify this turn him into a player overnight, and hes a really cheezy wannabee player that wouldnt really work at all. Man im jsut dieing for a good friggin Honks fic! Someone write something good before i attempt it in the fic im working on, where i will probly end up butchering it....

But yes, I have to agree. A lot of Honks fics are done badly. But I also have to disagree...H/G shippers will never migrate to another pairing.

Especially not a pairing like Harry/Tonks.

I can see them writing a Harry/Susan or a H/Hr, but not H/T.

Harry/Tonks is my favorite pairing, so, like Catzen, its a pain to see so many terrible Harry/Tonks fics out there. I'm writing one, Chimera, and I'm trying to make Tonks a corss between the fun-loving Auror and the serious, helpful friend...you'll have to tell me if I succeeded.

 

Maybe its just me but in my experience about half of Honks used to be just PWP. but the nazi's censored em, leaving the basic archetype of a Honks story. Eventualy, authors felt the need to justify the lack of plot and mild sexual inuendo's, shifting into the drivel we read today. (and like all trends out of FF.net, it spread like a plague.)

I dont realy think we've Ever HAD Honks to begin with. Sure, there's been the ocasional good fic, and a plethora of average porn, but it's never had a golden age, even as an indie parring.

edit: and before I get on the bad end of a big stick of hurt. Yarrgh! and others on this site fall into the "there's been the ocasional good fic." area

 

I'm not quite sure which is more disturbing. The fact that a fic like that has been written, or the fact that you felt compelled to search to see if it had been...

Yeah, there seems to be very little quality Honks material out there rigtht now. Most of them are totally cliche, not to mention sappy.

I think Honks stories are on a slippery slope to the realm of Ginslut.

 

Draco, if there is a disgusting fic that has been written, Madeye is almost certain to either know the link off by heart, or know exactly what to search for to find it. Its the sort of person he is.

Due to my laziness and prefering to read other people work, my current story im thinking on really hasnt progressed anywhere. If if anyone else wants to im down to kick my ass in gear and spit the story out (it will be Honks). Maybe if we kick 5 or so stories out there one of us will have a winner .

i have actually given up on the honks stories. too much crap out of the limited honks stories out there. and about harry marrying tonks so voldie doesn't get the black fortune (which we dont know how much there is) only seen one good story. as much as i like honks, maybe it is time for the ship to die.

 

But it can be overused so much that no san person would willingly shake a stick at it.

 

Honks is no where near this point, but it has lost the "specialness" it used to have. Kinda like bella, narcissa, and blaise. Blaise was actually my all time favorite slytherin above the black sisters, and now especially since there are so many slash stories with blaise i just cant seem to really enjoy it anymore. Well i take that back ill enjoy a good blaise fic, but youll almost never see me search for one on ff.net.

 

We only care about sane fiction readers, not those slobbering fangirls that ruined HP fanfiction for me for roughly a year.

May be so, but HPB caused a spam fest of anti-HONKS thoughts and fics, which caused another spam fest of imitators who saw a new trend and wanted to boost review amounts and hit counts, that HONKS has all but died on most fiction sites.

 

HBP just makes me mad on so many levels now....
