I'm surprised that no one started a thread about this but what the hey I'll be the first!11!!!111eleven

For those who don't know, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a widely popular anime that inspired such threads as [this]!

They had the one season and while great, they have been in production of season 2 for more than 2 years now.

They came out with Haruhi chan, voiced by the original actors. A satiric version of the series [Sauce]

Well season 2 started in april but it was really a retelling of season one... except they have finally added in a new episode. For those who have read the manga( the title is the Bamboo leaf rhapsody so you know which episode it is of. Supposedly there will be more interspersed new episodes as the show finishes off the first season

They are allotting for a total of 28 episodes including the previous 14 that originally aired so that's double the episodes at least.

    Any one follow haruhism here?

This series is awesome, i love it, but there is too much character development and not enough action if you ask me. From the light novels that i read, nothing really serious, but it is very fun and interesting.

am I to assume you haven't actually seen the anime version?

    Really, you should.

I prefer the original Japanese English subed version but thats just me. mostly because the yellow and black power rangers do the voices for kyon and haruhi for the official English dub.

Yea i have, and the light novels, and only in the Melancholy of Haruhi does Kyon get somewhere with Haruhi. The next 7 or so novels focuses mainly on character development again, but it is always interesting to see. Dubs fail so hard its not even funny >.>.

Yeah, I've seen the first series and read the first book of the light novels. It definitely ranks up their amongst my favourite animes... Perhaps even the top if I think about it. Haven't seen any of the new series yet though, guess I'll have to download them some time.

It is a great anime series itself but the subject matter for me makes it only worth respect but not love.

fair enough... I'll be the first to admit its no Full metal alchemist.
But then again I'm extremely picky about the anime's I watch.

This is one of a handful I would give a chance let alone religiously follow.

Season 2s out and airing, 2 episodes i believe. It seems they managed to retain the same style and humour they had ;D, bracing for awesome season.

    yes... yes they did. :|

Anyone catch the latest one... I was a bit dissapointed, with last weeks one thinking it was filler but after watching friday's episode I am totally stoked.

That's right, stoked... I said it.

Though Nagato is blowing my mind now. so Many Times... I would have totally flipped by the 15th one if not sooner.

    Haruhism follower, sighning in.

I've watched Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu far too much. Been quite a while since I did, though.

I especially liked Kon's narrative, and lots of characters in general. Weird, usually I end up detesting most anime characters.

I love (thats right LOVE) this series. Though I haven't read the manga cause I heard it was garbage compared to the actual novels.
Speaking of which anyone know where I can get my hands on the original novels? Preferably translated seeing as how I'm not Japanese literate.
Anyways right to the reasons why I love this.
I love the presentation. The first season being so scattered was great, at first I was kind of confused but then when I finished I found myself really happy with the series. I then re-watched it in chronological order which, while not as good as the original air date, was still pretty good.
Now the new season is kind of.... well upsetting so far. I was really hoping we would have this time loop issue solved by now but instead we spend 3 episodes watching the same shit. I can't take three twenty minute segments, how did Yuki withstand 15,499 two week spans? Oh wait thats right, she's the shit.

soooooo yeah, to sum it up. Big fan

    Edit:
So yeah found the novels fully translated on baka-tsuki. Where would we be without the internet?
