I cried hard reading cauterize. Not ashamed at all.

I always tear up a little at emotional scenes in books and movies - not sure why. Just watery eyes. I make sure to blink them away before anyone notices. Fanfiction is no different.

There's no fanfiction that has ever made me cry, but there are a few that have come really, really close. There's one Frozen fic that I can't quite remember, Cauterize, and a few other less known fics with some scenes that really hit you in the feels. There was that slight pressure behind my eyes, but I didn't actually manage to tear up.

Worm though... The ending of Worm did make me tear up a little bit.

What Zeelthor said. It's a matter of empathy. I imagine myself in that moment, be it book or movie, and the tears flow. I cried like a bitch when that little boy reunited with his mom in Room.

I recall widespread manly tears when I got together with some friends for a Trek movie marathon to commemorate Nimoy's death. Spock's death and funeral in Wrath of Khan is pretty hard-hitting under normal circumstances, but watching that right after Nimoy himself had died...

Yeah, nobody got through that with dry eyes.

I may have shed some tears reading one of Nothrumbian's woks. I believe it was covering a statue of Harry, and action figure of Ginny.

Never cried from reading, but a TV show or film with a good soundtrack can get me pretty reliably.

I second that. The fic itself is merely okay, but the poignant conversation in chapter 26 between Bill and Hermione may well be my favorite scene in all fanfiction, ever.

I may have welled up a little in BajaB's The Substitute, because any Last Stand speech always gets to me. It got me in Starcraft 2, it got me in Warcraft 3, it got me in 300 and it almost got me here.

I don't think there's anything more manly than staring certain death in the face, putting your game face on, and going out in a blaze of glory.

I shamelessly cry whenever any fictional character I like dies, so yes. Half the time I'm not even sad, my tear ducts are apparently just really sensitive *shrug*.

Plenty of time. I have a very easy time getting into the characters head, no matter if it is a book or movie or fanfiction. It's a relief really, because I don't cry over anything in RL, so to be able to do so when I want to as I'm reading about my favorite characters or by watching a scene in a movie is good.

I've certainly had my eyes water. Never actual tears but close enough that someone would say that I had been crying if they saw me. It's usually over something stupid, then I try to suppress it and usually just exasperate the situation. Can't say I get emotional over much anything else in life, it's just random fanfiction that can take a crap on my emotions.

I've had a few moments when a Manly Tear of Sad® welled and threatened to fall. And more than a few when I laughed so hard my eyes teared up.

Good writing can do that, whether fanfiction or otherwise.

I've been told in reviews over the years that this has led to a few tears being shed.
