It's really, really satisfying to shut down someone trying to cheese me with their murloc deck when I'm just using some throwaway bullshit to finish daily quests.

It shits on pretty much every other aggro deck, but it has serious issues with any deck that consistently gets out a good early taunter with some removal.

I haven't had trouble with OTK hunter in a long time, but then again, I play mage with 2x Ice Block. Defender of Argus shuts it down pretty hard too.

Awesome. Don't waste your early gold on packs btw. You'll regret it later.

I'd like to thank Purple for the beta key.

That said, I'm starting to play with a priest deck and loving it. I figured I may as well play with the class that was my MC in WoW.

Once you have like, 5-6 classes to 10 (or whatever it takes for you to get a good grip on a class) play some arena. It costs 150g, but you get some gold back for each game you win. iirc you get ~100 back for 5 wins and ~150 for 7, so arena is a great way to get packs for cheap/free if you can consistently win enough.

Also it's really fun, which helps.

Nothing until you are really comfortable in the game, then arena.

7 wins in arena is a guaranteed 150 gold, which basically makes that arena run free.

8 wins will give you more gold than 9 wins, as 9 wins will give you epic cards/golden cards/extra packs in one of the slots, while 8 just throws gold at you.

What to spend gold on? I only spend it on arena, personally. But I don't see the appeal of constructed, and I'm fine with slowly unlocking cards through the area.

If you want to eventually own all available cards and do it with maximum efficiency, you shouldn't craft any cards until you have saved up enough dust to craft all your missing cards at once.
(But that takes awhile or a lot of money.)

I saved dust until I had a specific deck I wanted to put together, then crafted what I was missing. I think I crafted a couple of pyroblasts, blizzard, ice block, and a few random commons I needed. Made for a pretty fun mage deck.

This just in: My firstborn will be named Gizmore.

---------- Post automerged at 03:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:00 AM ----------

As a new player, how does Arena work? Is there something I should know/do before trying it out? Its description isn't really, well, descriptive.

Check out some tutorials on youtube or something, lots of the cards are not as good/bad as you first think.

Card rankings will only take you so far since it's far more important to pick the right card for your deck than the best card overall, but nonetheless for your first few arena runs simply taking the highest-rated card will probably turn out better for you than trying to judge the cards, since card values are fairly different from constructed. When in doubt, take the removal.

My fiancee was lucky enough to get an invite but it seems they skipped over me.

    :(

Oh well. She let me play a bit, and I'm really liking the mage. Lots of direct damage, and some +1 spellpower creatures makes me laugh.
