The way I see it, Hedwig is just the owlish form of Ginny.

Think of it:

Hedwig is an overbearing owl. Ginny is an overbearing...thing.

Hedwig needs too much attention. Ginny is the same and thinks people care what it says.

Hedwig is in love with Harry, overly loyal. It wishes it had Harry's love.

You're my last friend, Hedwig! You're my best It friend! I love It forever!

Hedwig is a ridiculous shade of white. It is ridiculously pale, ugly, and has matted, brown/orange hair.

Their attitudes are pretty much the same.

Not much of a point I'm making here, but I hope people get Hedwig to die more often.

Heh funny comparisons there... I actually like Hedwig though, figure she's kept Harry from goin insane in the summer months. Unless she doesn't really offer any solace to scarboy then I'm all for killin'it.

I like the owl. But the comparison is good. But I wouldn't kill the owl. It kept the kid sane.

If you wanted an example when people went overboard with the Hedwig love, you should've read Master Eldryn's story where Hedwig turned human and was Harry's sex slave thing. Still, it was worth reading too bad it's not posted anywhere.

 

I like hedwig the owl, what i can't stand is the authors that somehow make hedwig a effing phoenix. Seriously does harry need a phoenix? and if he does does hedwig need to be that phoenix? As far as i'm concerned owls don't become phoenixs... I just realized how off topic that was but it needed to be said, owls do not ever become phoenixs no matter how loyal they are..

Hedwig isnt trying to screw Harry. Ginny is. Simple as that.

 

I'll make my opinion real easy:

There are more than enough Harry/Ginny fics out there.

There are not nearly enough Harry/Hedwig fics out there (thank you Master E.).

And come to think of it, there aren't nearly enough fics with Ginny as Harry's owl either.

 

That's pretty innovative.

We need more Harry/Hedwig love! Or maybe Fawkes/Hedwig! Don't see many of those around.

 

Honestly people! Do we relly want to read about two birds having secks? or a bird and human having secks. I don't even want to know how its possible.
After that, I belive your being over critical of hedwig. Just because she has a crappy name doesn't give her those characteristics. She's an owl. Harry's second friend and first pet. You share a connection there and would kill if someone killed your owl. All the azkaban where they kill hedwig, Harry would kill them fuckers no matter what they say. No reconcilliation, never nope, none. *adds to ideas*

Same here. Actually, this discussion has reminded me I forgot Hedwig in just about everything I've written... eh. All Hedwig/Harry jokes aside.. I don't see much of the point of killing off Hedwig. As long as she isn't tied or the cause of some sort of mind control on Harry then it doesn't seem like it would have any purpose to a plot besides a bit of violence. Meh.

I don't think you should kill Hedwig. She's nice and in canon not overly arrogant. And she's useful. If Harry flees into the and suddenly doesn't have anything to eat... I don't know how owl taste, but I think it's better than nothing.
