Title: Herwald von Einzbern and the Philosopher's Stone
    Author: kyugan
    Rating: T
    Genre: Adventure/Humor
    DLP Category: The Alternates
Pairing: FF.net says Harry and Illya, but author states that is not the case due to various reasons.
    Status: Work in Progress
Summary: The 5th Heaven's Feel has been averted, with no apparent victor, but for Herwald von Einzbern, recently turned eleven, a whole new adventure is about to begin in a world he left behind ten years prior. AU cross, rated T for occasional german cursing.

Not too bad, the author does a decent job a blending both HP and Nasu-verses together. Currently at 6 chapters with just shy of 40K words, it's a decent read if you're trying to pass time. I'd give it at 3.5-4/5.

I've found this more of an amusing guilty pleasure than an excellent story so far, to be honest. While F/SN or other Nasu-verse would really help for both comprehension and for interest in reading, the author has written in such a way that someone without experience could pick it up and read it fairly easily. That said, if you don't have any attachment to the Nasu characters, I doubt you'd enjoy it as much.

It's been beta'd, but you can catch a few things every chapter that slipped past the proofreading. The solid background in Fate seemed to be followed by a generic start in the HP-verse, but there are enough differences (no magical trunk of goodness, no marriage contracts, no shopping spree of bands/devices that hadn't been invented yet) that it's bearable to enjoyable.

My primary worry is turning this into a Nasu-pwns-HP verse wankfest, but that's for us to see in the future. Secondary is that the author, well, he'll write a whole bunch of words, but doesn't usually finish things. Solid 3/5 for someone not grounded in the Fate/Stay Night story, 3.5/5-4/5 for someone who is.

Oh, hmm this looks kind of interesting...

Harems... plausible scenarios.. well I suppose there's a first time for everything...

Well, I suppose it might not count as dropping the capital P, since it's a crossover and Nasuverse did it first...

Oh.. dear, we are in trouble.

Interesting concept, lost beneath the standard mountain of cliches.

The rather useless addition of FMA style alchemy à le Scar to Har-err... Herwald's abilities bothered me a bit.

That aside, I second Psychotic Cat's points. I could forgive some of these cliché if they were done well but that is unfortunately not the case.

For people looking for a crossover between Fate/Stay Night and Harry Potter; I find that Dark-Syaoran's "Fictional" is worth looking into. However the setting is not in the Harry Potter World, so knowledge of Fate/Stay Night would be great. It can be found in the Work by Author section here, or at Dark-Syaoran's Fanfiction account.

Crossovers like this usually never work at well, that is when the author merges the two worlds as one when the two share completely different systems of magic.

That said, I wouldn't mind reading a Tsukihime or Kara no Kyoukai crossover - you know, a good one.

And yes I am aware I'm contradicting myself, them sharing the same world as Fate/stay night and all.

Cliche-ridden guilty pleasure at best with main character that is an OC named Herwald that happens to be Harry Potter. And what fantastic person Herwald is. Not only he has an custom crafted wand, but also has shitload of money and titles, the goblins like him because he was polite to them.

Why is it bad? Harry refers to himself as Herwald. This would'nt be so bad if the author would refer to Harry as Harry and not Herwald.
He snaps at Malfoy for calling Hermione a mudblood - that dialog is painful to read.
As was stated before - guilty pleasure at best. More precisely a train wreck, but you want to see how it will end.

    2/5.

Bah, there is nothing wrong with this fic but there is nothing spectacular about it either.
It gets a solid 3/5 from me. what brings this up to a stable three for me is that it has a non evil Dumbledore, Herwald/Harry only thinks Dumbledore is out to get him with his "Evil plans".
