    Have any of you actually studied the history of fanfiction?

    Fangirls actually started it with, the horror, slash. Imagine that. When it first started, fanfiction was actually published as books and sold.

    Research what you're talking about before you dig into the very founding roots of it.

    I was more or less speaking about the beginning of the Harry Potter fanfiction era, not fanfiction in general. Even if it was started by fangirls, I associate the creation with the truly great stories, not stories written by some impudent child who knows little of writing.

    I am not surprised, after how many fics are with Harry joining a band that ends up being Linkin Park just so the lazy ass author can make most of their fic just be their song lyrics.

    I once read a fic where Harry started up a band with Ron and Charlie. Or was it Bill and Charlie? Anyways, the author just took Trapt songs and had Harry suddenly have the creative ability to write songs. Yeah...

    That doesn't compare to one I saw where Harry started writing Linkin Park songs after his fifth year. He just wrote the songs, his inner magic provided the beat and the tune. :puke:

    Sree: The worst one was a Harry's bro is boy-who-lived. Harry gets abandoned or something, and joins a gang called the ravens. He becomes the leader of the gang when he's 14, and kills shit, and whatnot.

    But wait! The ravens are also a BAND! The top four people in the GANG are the people in the band, because obviously, your seniority in a street gnag dictates how much musical ability you ahve.

    Oh wait...he's also doing Bill Weasley, and the Potters find their long lost son when he pops over for a round of "Scare the Weasleys with all my piercings and tattoos".

    Fucking disaster.
