    About the same as normal.

I once started a Dumbledore Grindelwald oneshot that I could finish off for it.

I doubt any DLPer would go for anything sexual. More things like what Silens posted above.

This pretty much. I'm not gonna lie, I am pretty homophobic, against both genders, a predjudice that I know is not really accepted in today's society, but if I have to accept that some people like some things, then other should accept some people don't.

I wouldn't waste my time reading slash. I wouldn't even read a slash fic if a good DLP author decided to write one just to prove a point. I'd rather just browse the DLP board mindlessly, or switch to something other than fanfiction.

Seconded. A story that's really nothing more than a bunch of badly-written porn is never going to be fun to read, regardless of the gender/orientation of the people involved.

I'm having a bad case of deja view - I know I've seen this thread before and it didn't end well then either.

Sounds suspiciously like Frodo/Sam +wands and badassery.

    Pun intended?

Slash fiction is terrible because there are no gay characters in Harry Potter. If you write slash fiction about Dumbledore, it is terrible because you must have some sort of perversion to write about a 150 year-old man sucking dicks. In the very rare case people do write about Dumbledore, it isn't to show how love (in this case, homosexual love) affected his life and decisions and consequently the way he shaped the world; it's about how much he loves dick in his asshole.

There are of course exceptions, but they are about as few and far between.

That is the biggest problem with Harry Potter slash. There are no gay characters, so making a character gay is a huge change to their personality, but actually working to make it believable is too different when you know the repressed 13 year old girls want to pick up a story and get to the slashfemdommpregdickgirlbuttsexin within the first 3 words. No author ever makes any attempt at making any Harry Potter character gay in a believable way, so slash stories are about as canon as !femharry stories. In fact, all slash stories should carry the AU tag.

    -_-

Right, slash is definitely AU. I don't think anyone ever claimed otherwise.

    What's your point?

Perhaps I was wrong but I was under the impression that AU was reserved for stories heavily altered from canon whereas small changes, even if they affect the storyline in a large way, were just divergences. Skitterleap is tagged as AU while Renegade Cause is not, even though technically nearly all fanfiction is AU.

Was I incorrect in my assumption? My point was that nearly all slash fiction is as heavily divergent from canon as stories you see marked as AU, because there is no attempted characterization before you see dicks in ass.

Right, yes, I agree, slash is AU.

I'm just trying to elicit why you think this counts against it.

Only read the first page. So perhaps someone else has said something similar, but I don't read things labeled slash for the same reason I don't watch gay porn, the idea sends me running.

On another hand, I was raised in a home where gays were never mentioned BUT it was a religious home, and the literature lying around sure as hell told me all about how wrong it was, only at 17 did I stop being a huge homophobe, but even now, I find myself As stated above, but at least I differentiate my dislike from the teachings of rabbi Telushkin.

    I would compete.

Side Note: why don't we have informal contests?

Very well, Thursday November 24 through December 25, I'll make a judge signup thread within a week before the beginning. I'll want 5 judges as I plan to write.

Or, you could do the smart thing and create a group for it. That way it stays out of sight for the people who don't want it, and the people who do want it can still have it.

    Profit?
