Hey not sure but wasent the father of Bellatrix Black only 13 when he became father the first time? Think I read it in Harry Potter lexicon...that stuck with me. Harry father at the age of 13? LOL. WOW purebloods...what you gone do.

3000-5000....not many magical people, seems to little, everyone almost know everyone. Then most would be able to remember almost every name of wizard and witches or at least an idea.

 

That's what it says on the Black family tree that JKR made herself and auctioned off for charity.

You can see a copy of it on the lexicon, and Bellatrix's father was indeed 13 when she was born, if the family tree is to be believed.

The HP Lexicon says that a wizard/witch is considered a pureblood if both of thier grandparents were magical, despite thier(the grandparetns) heritage. Of course, she makes leeway saying that "some Pureblood families require more generations of magical ancestors."

So lets say Harry marries (God forbid) Ginslut. Thier grandchildren would be considered pureblood, assuming Harry's kids marry other purebloods.

 

The HPL doesn't have a DOB for Bella's mother, only the 13 year old father. Cygnus had 3 kids by the time he was 17, but didn't have any more after that even though he lived another 40 years. You'd think he'd keep trying for another son.

I figured it was because the Blacks are a "dark" family. When your sole purpose in life is to serve murderers, you're going to have a short lifespan. Even the old ones would be susceptible to attacks from with the family by people trying to gain more power within that family.

 

What about the Potters then? James and Lily married pretty young as well. Don't remember how young but it was almost right out of school. That's not as young as 13 (wowza!) But maybe its not just a "dark" family thing. The Potters were of the Light, were they not?

In fact you don't hear much about Harry's grandparents on his father's side. I assume they're dead and we know they were pureblooded and not dark. But thats all.

Curious...

 

Heh! Now there's a story idea! Voldemort orders his followers to go and be fruitful as a way of building up his pureblood army.

The problem? There's simply too many mudbloods around and only so many purebloods...

The whole wizarding world isn't that big apparently. Anyway, is he feared throughout the whole world or just by the British wizarding community?

 

We have pretty much no idea on that. I don't think fear of Voldie came up in GoF and OoTP/HBP didn't have much to do with foreigners. Though the giants' recruitment suggests that Voldie is attacking more than just England...

 

I think the death-eaders-are-rapist idea comes from book 4, in which they find pleasure in humiliating the muggle family, in a way which anyone above the age of 7 finds extremly sexual. In the revival of Voldemort JK uses alot of description fit for rape, *(Carressing his chest, Voldemort's long slender fingers....)

I do not believe that it is too far fetched to believe death eaters raped\sexually attacked\.... muggles.

 

My point was about the short lifespans when wizards are supposed to live much longer than Muggles. If you're a big proponent of either side of a large scale (relatively) conflict, you're going to have a short lifespan. The fact that your side is usually the aggressor will make yours even shorter.

Harry was born to Lily and James when they were 22/23, which isn't much different than many other couples at the time. The weird thing about that is that they were about 23 when they died, yet when they're shown in the movies (mirror/pictures) they look to be in their 30s or 40s.

I'm assuming Charlus Potter (from the BFT) is Harry's grandfather, since he had only one son and the DOB of his wife corresponds pretty well with him being James' father.
