It does look awesome. A lot of die-hard Trekkies are getting pissed for some reason, but I've been watching Star Trek ever since I was 10, and this movie looks amazing. Can't wait until May.

I never really saw what the Trekkies were cuntblasting over with this movie. The trailers have looked great, and it's being made by someone who's clearly respectful of the source material. This is one of the very few movies I'd bother going to see in the theaters.

The really strange thing to me is all the random hate I've seen over casting Quinto as Spock. The fucker looks just like him.

    I want to see this.

Probably a bunch of nerds raging from their caves because something doesn't look right, and Star Trek is srs business.

Looks awesome, but most likely won't be as good as trailer shows.

They did the same thing when the New Voyages started airing on the web a few years back. Then the argument was made that Star Trek and its characters have become so iconic that they're like a modern-day Shakespeare: the roles should not be defined by one person alone, and every actor who steps into those shoes (or onto that bridge) should bring something new and unique to the character we've never seen before.

    This, I agree with.

This is true. I'm a Trekkie with two kids. Virgin birth both times, my hand to God.

I slaver and salivate over Star Trek. I even do the happy-fangirl dance when I realize Spike or Space is running a Star Trek marathon. Do you really think it's likely I've ever had sex?

    Woah...

So that should count as the two miracles needed for canonization shouldn't it..

Let me paraphrase Christopher Hithchens here:

"What's more likely—the virgin birth, or that a girl might have lied?"

If the trekkies weren't breeding N.O.X, they would be extinct by now . . .

And I have 4 (horrible) words for you: Pon farr role play.

If anyone is interested, there is a series of four comics out there that is supposed to be a prequel to the movie, called Star Trek: Countdown. I bought mine for $0.99 a piece as iphone apps, but I'm sure there are other places to find them.

    *zips up pants*

Well, I'm no longer excited but still this film should be awesome. I've always enjoyed Star Trek and this looks all sorts of win. Spock well, the small glance we had of him didn't reveal much but he doesn't seem quite as cool as Nemoy.

I'm a bit worried about how they are going to try to squeeze so much material into one film.

    Let me help with that.

I reserve judgment on the flick though. Could be good...but could be a cluster-fuck of a disaster too.
