I'm not too sure, but I think I stumbled on this site when I was younger while looking for other H/G haters.

 

I first started reading fanfics in 9th grade when I caught up on Percy Jackson and needed more while waiting for the next book to come out. I somehow ended up on fanfiction.net through Google.

Fast forward about a year and I read all the readable PJ fanfics and stopped using fanfiction.net. I got bored over the summer and I decided to branch out. At that point I wasnt a huge Harry Potter fan because I'd only seen a few of the movies. But it seemed fun so I tried out a Harry Potter fanfic.

Back then I didn't really know how to effectively use the search features to find the best stories and just chose one at random that was relatively long/had a good number of reviews compared to Percy Jackson fanfics (which isn't that much).

So I was reading what I now realize is a relatively shitty fanfic and in the first chapter a character was introduced who I didnt remember at all from the movies/my lacking knowledge of Harry Potter. So I ended up googling the character name and Harry Potter hoping to get a wiki page or something. There were barely any hits except for the fanfic itself and a DLP page about the story that mentioned the characters name. The character was some shitty Gary stu Old Japanese guy who taught pre-Hogwarts Harry how to fight and about Japanese magic. It was a really bad story.

Anyway I clicked on the DLP link and ended up making an account and joining the IRC where some people there recommended me actual good stories. And I've been lurking and recently playing fantasy football since.

 

I'm pretty sure someone in the Caer Azkaban yahoo group mentioned DLP and i just googled the name.
i did take a long time before making my account.

If I remember it correctly I made it here via Midnight's profile on FF.net back when he was still writing that fic of his. Wish that I'd saved a copy of it but that was before I started backing everything I read up.

 

Found out that The Santi had made more progress on his story Harry Potter and the Boy Who Lived here than he had on fanfiction dot net.

 

Same here though I had no idea what DLP was so I ended up googling it a few nights after I'd finished reading, hoping to find more and here I am.

 

I was googling for fanfic rec lists and ended up here. I've lurked for years, finally made an account to better interact with the community.

 

I first heard about it in A/Ns, then the community in ff.net and I've been interested ever since while never finding time to register (and I must admit that the "Dark Lord" part of the name was a bit of a deterrent, too, as it sound like either a bashing fic, a slash LV/HP or a redemption fic).
So of course, when I finally joined reddit, I had the pleasure to read others' opinions about DLP and here I am!

 

I read "Harry Potter and The-Boy-Who-Lived" by The Santi of FF. Later I read on /r/hpfanfiction (reddit) that Santi had published some more chapters on DLP's WbA section. The rest is history.

 

I think I first heard of DLP from someone at the Caer Azkaban group. Lurked a bit, posted a bit... As you can see from my post count, I'm a mostly a lurker. Oh, I hadn't realised it's been 10 years. wow!

 

I think I first heard about this site somehow thorough Shezza Renegade Trilogy, either by reading some comments or Googling

 

Erhm, I'm not entirely sure to be honest, I think it was me looking for the chapters of Harry Potter and the boy who lived that isn't on ff.net. I must have eventually stumbled onto this site, read the chapters in the WBA, and after that wondered what this site is all about and checked out the large library of fics. Since then I've visited this site almost daily, though lurking most of the time (I rarely post on the internet, no matter if it's social media or forums).

 

I found DLP through /r/HPfanfiction while looking for fic recommendations. I think it was through their "Definite Guide for Beginners". I think I saw DLP mentioned before this, but I hadn't visited

 

Honestly do not remember, I have been vaguely aware that you existed since at least 2009. I took a long time to decide to sign up and I finally did because I was sick of wading through crap.

 

His stories were pretty good. Although I don't know whether they've aged well.

Before ever reading HP fanfiction, I was looking for Wheel of Time fanfiction and read some stuff by Shezza, which lead me here and started me on HP fanfiction. Life is full of regrets.

 

Pretty sure I first heard about DLP on an Authors profile. Many people have mentioned Shezza so this is probably who it was. I'm pretty sure I only made an account after seeing DLP mentioned on the Hpfanfiction subreddit.

 

I have no memory of how I found this site nor do I remember joining it altogether.

 

I found my way here a long time ago, at first. Mrriddler mentioned it, but I didn't think much of the site at first. Then when ColdHandsLuke referred to this site in an Author's Note over on AO3, I came back and finally registered.
