There was a discussion on Reddit, and I thought it would be worth looking at the recommended lists here. I don't think I've posted before, honestly - I just lurk.

 

I think I came here after reading one of Vash's stories but so much time has passed since then that I can no longer be sure about that.

 

Lord Ravenclaw's fanfiction...from before Midknight was doing fanfiction

 

I saw that it was mentioned somewhere by the Santi, author of Harry Potter and the Boy Who Lived.

 

I managed to stumble across Methene's Harry/Fleur community on google whilst looking for, well, Harry/Fleur stories.

 

I think I found DLP through A Black Comedy? Maybe? It was when I started reading Harry Potter fanfiction in mid-2013. It was either that or another fic by a DLPer. I didn't actually join until much later though, sometime last year. Some real life stuff happened, and I forgot all about it until recently.

I was looking for a non-ffnet fanfic site for HP that had quality material. I found this sit, started reading story reviews and found exactly what I wanted.

 

Joe6991's Wastelands of Time on fanfiction. He made a few comments on how he was writing some other things over her.

 

An author going on a rant about DLP'ers being a bunch of c***s led me to find the C2 and then I googled my way here.

Been a part of the FFN HP community for about a decade, so I've been aware of DLP for a very long time. Too long to remember how I first heard about it, but I've read fics by all the familiar names (jbern, nonjon, Vash, Taure).

Lurked a few times over the years, had a bit of a mental block where I was turned off because I always heard about flaming and drama.

Still, I'd read a lot of good and great work produced by this community's members over the years so I decided to finally give it a shot. Hope to read a bit more (I'm no exception to the Santi rule) and contribute where I can.

 

I lurked for over a year before creating an account, and it's been around 8 years since then. I have no idea who the author was, but it was definitely at someone's recommendation.

 

It's not technically when I first found it, but I remember that the first time I became aware of how much some people hated the site was when I recommended that someone in Bobmin's yahoo group post a story they were working on here. Within minutes of me saying that, I received a warning that if even mentioned DLP again he'd kick me out of the group entirely.

 

I've seen dark lord potter forums mentioned across several subreddits on reddit.com. Its been mentioned in the /r/hpfanfiction subreddit, the general /r/fanfiction subreddit, and recently in the /r/pokemonfanfiction subreddit, so I decided to pop on over and make an account and see what everything was about.

I hope to use the site to find new interesting, well-written fanfictions, to post a few of my favorite fanfics that I think the community would like, and to help to perfect mine so that they are the best that they can be.

 

I went looking for the place where reviewers for thesanti's fiction "Harry potter and the Boy who Lived" kept getting their info from. One of the best fanfics on fanfiction but never got updated. Some google searches later and here I am.

 

Found this site trying to find decent AU, Time Travel fics. Came across a thread that read "Time Travel/Dimension Hopping Stories that don't insult my intelligence" lol

I read some pretty good stories that way, then I dug a little deeper into the site and there was a lot of good info and discussion going on. I'm an attempting fanfic writer myself so I thought I could get some good advice and perhaps get some decent critique on my work too. Perhaps I can add something too

 

I was searching for good Harry Potter crossovers.
Like for example Wand and Shield.
So I made a google search by combining those key words.
And here I am.
The fact I love Harry Potter doesn't hurt either.

 

I think I came across some author I read once before who mentioned DLP on their profile page; I'm not sure who, and won't name-drop as I will probably get it completely wrong. Thank you.

 

So this thread has basically become the new Intro forum combined with 1 easy post towards the 5 post count requirement as far as I can tell.
