Because the older members couldn't handle the responsibility of not acting like a group of five year olds on the playground.

It was a positively reddit-esque circlejerk of people looking for an excuse to tear new members limb from limb. Pretty toxic.

A friend of mine (the same guy who introduced me to fanfiction in the first place) told me about DLP. He had read some stories here and said that the guys criticism was great and the Library was full of great stories and some weird ones (I'm not sure, but I guess he was talking about Vash's Oedipus Flower or an incest fic which name I don't remember). Back then, I had only read bad H/G romance fics that I loved because of the lack of good romance in canon, so I can honestly say DLP made me improve as a reader. I can still remember the first time I saw a Kill Ginny Weasley Day thread, good old times.

Fast foward ten years, and here we are.

 

Well I have read several stories which, at the author's note, mention DLP. Never really looked into it, untill I was re-reading The Santi's story. And here I am

 

Shezza mentioned it in one of the dresden harry potter crossovers.

 

I found this site back when Shezza was still updating the denarian knight so 07 I think? I've basically done nothing but lurk for years because I'm too much of a chicken shit to post :/ but honestly I've been here long enough that half the names will be ingrained in my mind forever (CheddarTrek, Taure, Jon, and of course Syed) I've definitely cut back on how much I'm on here now thanks to the changes to WbA and the fact that I don't like to post. But this is my third(?) Account on here because I'm bad with passwords and I still love this site to death even after all these years.

 

I found the forum ages ago through authors thanking DLP for help with their stories. Decided to check it out.

 

I was looking for new stuff that didn't seem so cliched.

 

People seem interested in giving out real critiques for stories, so I joined up. Don't quite remember how I found it, though.

 

I found Taliath's Naruto fic, 'Across dimensions, Parting Reality's Veil' in ff.net and followed it to DLP.

 

I found DLP a little over 10 years ago, around 2005-2006. I had just discovered fanfiction and after reading many millions of words of garbage fics, I found several authors who seemed a cut above the rest, and they were all referencing DLP in in their author notes or profile It was joe6991 and jbern that really got me lurking here.

 

I found DLP through /r/HPfanfiction.

 

Someone mentioned it in an author's note of a story on fanfiction.net.

 

This is going to be really boring but... I looked up harry potter forums and this one looked coolest.

 

Searched for dark harry fics on google and was led here.

 

I was recommended by my friend and room-mate Jazz-meister, who has since lost all interest in Fanfiction (I accidentally clicked the wrong one though.)

 

A few fics I read were criticized by people on DLP, and the authors took offense. Then I found an interest in dark HP and googled myself here once again, browsing a nice little library.

 

I joined after someone mentioned it in the creative writing section of sufficient velocity.com.

 

I actually don't remember who mentioned it to me first. Might have been an author's note, or friends or actually even the community. I've known about DLP for a while but I was fine with just lurking.

 

I found most of the fics I've been reading in the ff.net c2, and wanted to see what else you had to offer.

 

Entered "harry potter fanfiction forum" into Google and somehow came to this site.
