Back in 2011 I think it was, I used to really look up to Marquis Black's writing and he mentioned DLP in one of his ANs for the Dark Wars series. That's what brought me here.

I'm not so sure about that. Perhaps for a lot of old members that's true, but the amount of people here who have been brought solely by santi's fic has to be a pretty sizable amount.

I eventually made my way here after continually seeing the name on the profiles of authors I liked.

Prediction: Pre 2009, Vash's stories are responsible for most DLP signups and most people driven away in horror.

Well I'll be the first to fuck up this prediction. Signed up in 2005 because Sera/LT2000 plugged DLP in the author's notes for Dakaath: Prince of Darkness

I think one of the OG's invited me, but I don't specifically remember. It's been like a decade since then.

'Twas on the tail end of my shipping days when I had first heard about DLP - whispers in author's notes and the like - but avoided it like the plague. The only tolerable fics of my ship (Harmony) were Kwan Li's stuff, some forgotten Portkey fics, Unsung Hero (before it ended) and HPATFE (before it got too much).

I suddenly had an urge to read the wildly divergent AUs in the oddest attempt to regain the spark that had been snuffed out by Evil!Weasleys and everything that came after. After a few years of reading reams of crossovers, unconventional ships and Devil Trigger inheritances, I stumbled upon Shinysavage's first series before reading Hallowed, and became his #1 secret fan. I scoured his favourites list in the hopes of finding similar work, and lurked DLP ever since.

I didn't join until my own fic got mentioned here, though. I shat a brick when a reviewer told me that.

Yeah, started seeing it in author's notes and on other forums, such as FictionAlley. Lot of people talking shit about the site - which made it seem like my sort of hive of scum and villainy.

I remember taking a hazing in the old Introduction forum, firing all cannons, and having to read Vash's work as a rite of passage.

Probably saw it in someone's authors notes, lurked for a month or two and then joined. Honestly can't remember which author it was, though.

I faintly think it involved searching for a story title that just wasn't availing itself to me on ff.net for whatever reason, and ending up in the Library. Lurked around for around a year and change before finally making an account probably because I had a question to ask about something at the time.

At least I think so. It was around a decade ago, after all. Far from a prolific poster here(most of the time), but I still check the site almost daily.

Even mildly proud to have had a birthday thread made by Jon once, despite being a relative unknown to most, hah.

Same as others. I saw the link to DLP on the profiles of several authors I liked (Joe primarly, Averis, and Jbern too, though). I refused to click until I stumbled across the DLP C2 and found it loaded down with stories I already loved and the promise of even more fantastic stories finally convinced me to click the link.

I'd probably have lurked longer, because I'm anti-social, but the call of the WbA was too strong. At the time, Joe was still updating Wastelands (I think. Maybe it was Heartlands? So confused...) and I couldn't stay away.

So you can all thank Joe.

Huh, it seems I'll be the first to mention Shezza's trilogy as the reason. I found the first one, tentatively started it, loved it, then read as much of the second as was available on ff.net and then googled for more. In the WbA's story thread there were 2 or 3 chapters more...

I can't remember, but it was either from someone shit-talking it on a discussion thread about MoR somewhere (reddit?), or that I was just looking for a forum about Fanfiction that agreed with my tastes. At that time my tastes were Manipulative Dumbledore, BasicallyGod!Harry, and Twin Boy Who Lived.

Either way, over the course about a week my tastes were beaten to death and thrown in a river.

It was a different account then, but as my ideas about what was good in fan-fiction changed, my name became somewhat embarrassing.

Its interesting to see how many people who joined back in 2005/06 are still around and posting.

I am curious at how much everyone's lives have changed since then. The online landscape has changed so much, yet DLP still remains, albeit with less of a bite then when I first joined up.

Honestly don't know where I heard of DLP, but pretty sure it was someone's profile back in 2006. I joined soon afterward, haven't regretted it since even though barely anyone likes me. :p:facepalm

Schnoogle > Tinn Tam Fic > waited forever for Song of Trees to update, followed to FFN where it was updated, author profile to DLP. That's all she wrote. Tldr I'm still waiting for that Song of Trees update. :s
