I can't remember exactly, but I want to say it was Joe Ducie's Wastelands of Time. I think I was reading reviews or the summary and it mentioned DLP so I followed it to here. Lurked for a while reading the fics posted in the library until some forums went members only so I registered.

 

Uhhh... Googled critical reviews of HPMoR. Back when it was at chapter 46 or so.

I first thought you were the pinnacle of assholery. Then I realized I didn't really mind that.

 

I found DLP through The Santi's HPBWL. Last year, exactly around this time, I read a thread on reddit saying that there were more chapters on DLP. I had read the whole story a year before, and had enjoyed it immensely. I was so pumped for the new chapters that I read HPBWL for a second time. After finished my second read through, I decided that I liked DLP. Now here I am, lurking and occasionally posting.

 

Here I was in my own world writing fanfiction that got tons of reviews. I had a follower who was crazy about my stories and started IM'ing me and I thought why not, let's let him beta. And then he told me about DLP where my story got trashed and I thought, looks like I'll have to come here, wave my e-peen around and set some records straight...in the introductions forum.

Turned out as well as you would expect. So I quit DLP, came back later with a vengeance. I would become the creepiest motherfucker this site had ever seen. And that turned out as well as you would expect. But I did have a lot of fun, I remember a game of werewolf/deatheaters where I hard core roleplayed and got vote lynched the first day. Fun times.

And nowadays, I mostly lurk and rarely post. Finally got unbanned but my days of dicking around are over.

 

Pretty much this, only it was a matter of weeks and back in 2013, when the forum was already one about High Quality above all, which I loved.

 

99% sure it was google, even if my exact memory of it is a bit hazy. I was probably looking for a specific type of fic and DLP came up. Lurked around as a non-member for a few months. Looking at accessible thread discussions and stories recs, and decided to come out of lurking and join cuz "reasons."

 

I voted trash talk, but it was probably because I read a jbern story and followed it here. Maybe both.

 

I wanted to google what DP meant. Misspelled and got DLP as the top result. Later, I found out that there was no difference.

...nah.

Googled my story, found a thread here about it, learned that it wasn't the masterpiece that I thought it was, got depressed, abandoned it, and raised a small stink with the followers.

Lord Ravenclaw might have invited me during all that initial brouhaha, but I was still worried about joining given what I lacked. Then, I just lurked from time to time, and finally joined when I thought I was a decent enough writer, like a few months ago.

I do remember getting a really nice reply from Swimdraconian after leaving a review a few years back that made me want to get better. It left a nice impression of the forum.

So yeah, turns out no matter what I do, this site keep popping back up in my life.

 

Found it somehow through google while trying to find fics to read I think. I believe I actually originally had an older account but it must have been pruned. Back then you needed one to view the library which is why I made it.

At least...I think you did. This was at the same time there was a whole board for indie-Harry fics.

 

It's been quite a while, but I'm pretty sure it was nonjon's fics as well.

 

I found DLP while searching for more of Vash's Bluer Than Indigo, I think, or something by MrRiddler. It was also around the time that I had been reading Litany of Blood and Shezza's Azkaban fic. Then I found Denarian Renegade here, and lurked while finding the old Potter Law thread, etc.

 

Google.

Started reading fanfiction in 2009, and found Shezza's works on Wattpad and got hooked. I couldn't find Denarian Lord on there, so I googled Shezza88 Denarian Lord and discovered it was on DLP. Those days WbA wasn't member-restricted, so I popped every now and then to find Shezza in the User List and check if he had updated anything. Finally ended up joining when WbA became user-restricted, and stayed once I discovered the wealth of great material in WbA and the Library.

 

A Black Comedy, I think.

 

Didn't join until April 201, but I remember lurking as early as 2008.

Pretty sure I found DLP from a mention either in Rorschach's Blot's Make A Wish or a fic I found because of that one. It was because of finding that fic though either way.

Honestly I'm really grateful for DLP, I was a piece of shit for a couple years after I joined and after getting shit for it often enough I started thinking "hey maybe I really do have shit to fix" . . .

Also thanks to DLP I've made some of the best friends I have :')

 

A guy (@Myst) I met online while playing Tibia (old mmo) recommended the site as a good place to find fics.

Been here since, got way more than fics. :3

 

Back in 2005 I discovered Harry Potter fanfiction, and quickly realized just how shit almost all of the writing in the fandom was. I have no idea which of the fanfic websites I was on at the time, but I saw DLP mentioned and decided to check it out because some of the shit writing was written by people here.

I remember when we had a Severitus section, and before we had standards for spelling, grammar, or really anything except attitude.

 

If memory serves, I found DLP because of Shezza and the Denarian Renegade. I'd gotten hooked on that particular piece while either it or one of its sequels (given the join date, I'm gonna assume Denarian Lord) was being written and was impatient to read more. One of the author notes mentioned WBA posts on DLP, so I headed over and used that to read chapters earlier than FFN allowed.

 

I thought I had had the site recommended to me by a reviewer of my story, but I can't find the review. I had thought the reviewer was Shobs, who I think is Rain on this site, but none of their reviews mention DLP. I don't know. It was a long time ago.

 

When I first got into fanfiction a few years ago, I looked up everything and anything Harry Potter via Google. I found DLP and had been a lurker before joining recently.

 

Its been a lot of years at this point but honestly as I recall I had just found Harry Potter fanfiction and tried Googling it to find more, this was one of the top results I found and I thought this place was fucking hilarious so drawing on close to ten years later here I am.
