Led here by some disparaging comment about DLP from Harry/Daphne fic in '08. Hung around but didn't join until much later.

Vash's Harry/Lily was what really got me to stay on this website. OTP?

I found DLP from Lord Ravenclaw's profile on ff.net. Lurked for a long time, made an account and lurked some more.

 

I'm like ninety nine percent sure I found DLP while googling. I lurked for like a month, I think, before I started posting.

 

My DLP story is pretty simple. I just kept seeing it over and over again. The stories of Vash, Jbern, nonjon and others I had found while browsing ff.net all had the name DLP, I saw it so many times I just had to check it out.

But no lurking for me, I made an introduction thread which (me being very young) was at once contemptuous and embarrassingly eager. Cue getting my post taken apart by the kind folks here.

And once I got in, the volume of great stuff in WbA and the interesting discussions on canon and other topics made me stay.

 

I first encountered this site around 15, I think, shortly before Deathly Hallows? I think it was a fanfic author.

A few threads had me laugh, but I was an immature brat and didn't like the tone at that time, and went to non-HP fanfics. Became a huge fan of ShinjiWH40k and the whole Nasuverse for awhile.

Came back around 2012, when I really started reading fanfics again.

While this was happening, I had written about 16k words of an HP fanfic that didn't have the retarded cliches of Friendly Goblins/Dumbledore Bashing/Shopping Chapter/Soul Bonds etc.

I thought "Muahahaha, I am writing the most original and bestest fanfic ever!"

During a break, I wandered DLP some more, in search of good Harry/Luna (the canonical pairing made me forever bitter) and then stumbled across Taure's Best HP Fic List.

This happened.

There was never a choice. I had to join the Dark Side.

 

Derp. Misclicked on the C2, but it was an author mentioning the forum (and I am unsure if it was good or bad). This was in... late '09, I think.

 

Don't remember, it was a long time ago. I think I liked some fic on ff.net and traced author here..

 

I was looking for some decent fanfics a while back and was complaining to a friend at college of whom I knew read (and writes) fanfics too. He told me to come over here because of the impressive library and rather high standards everyone has here. He avoided telling me that his own fic got massacred here. Nonetheless, I was curious, made an account, consequently forgot about it and then rediscovered it again.

 

Learned about DLP from the early Dresden Files fics that several authors wrote. Vash and Sheeza are the two author in particular that I remember.

 

I started reading fanfiction with Stargate SG 1 on the site heliopolis somewhere in 2002. After reading everything there I moved onto fanfiction.net where I picked up HP Fanfiction and I think I got directed to DLP by IP82.

 

I believe I noticed the name DLP first when finding the C2 a few years back.
You can call me slow, but I actually did not understand what DLP stood for, I thought it was a genre or something else the fanfiction community created to describe certain elements in the stories (like lemon, slash, PWP, OC and so on).
Since the C2 had tons of way more interesting stories than I usually found by other means, I lacked the incentive to actually look up its meaning.

And then an author thanked DLP (sadly do not remember who) and I had to know.

Found via author. I seem to remember it being Rorschachs' Blot, but I don't think he ever came here. So, it must've been Nonjon.

 

If I'm remembering correctly I found DLP from SwimDraconian's profile.

 

Someone Trash Talked about DLP, got curious because the criticism was valid. Found the website and lurked ever since.

 

Yeah, I don't really remember. I think it was probably google, looking for well-written dark!Harry (it was a different time, dammit), but I'm not 100% sure. I'll give 80:20 odds it was either random googling or Nonjon.

 

Via nonjon's profile, sometime during the second part of his trilogy. Alternated between lurking here and at a Naruto forum for a few years.

RB never knew about DLP?

 

Pretty sure I found it via author rec, but there is no way I'm going to remember who. I also didn't register for at least a year or so after I found it as I only checked the site occasionally.
