Yeah, unquestioned that he overdid it, and that the characterization issues do get pretty irksome, but frankly, I liked the plethora of details he built into his story, even though the physics fell apart completely if you thought into it. But strangely, even despite the issues, about 50k in, I actually started caring about the plot and most of the characters, something that rarely ever happens with fanfic. In fact, I'll stand by the fact that the pre-H/Hr relationship (Harry/OC) was probably one of the best written and characterized relationships I've read in fanfic.

So sure, the technomancy got bat-shit crazy at points, but in all due honesty the intricate layers of politics and his skill for atmosphere building surprised me into liking this fic more than I thought I would - and given my avowed dislike for Harry/Hermione, that's saying something.
