    Only IRCops can enable +m and +v. Its a command that you type in.

    /mode +v Member@ip #channel, or /mode #channel +m. Might have it mixed up, I just use scripts to do it when I op.

    and by mentioning vent, I was being facetious.

    ok, so (idiot question here) whats "OP" in IRC

    also, (idiot question 2) do i type that in to get voice or do I have to ask an OP to do it?

    You as an Op for voice, and an Op is an Operator, or someone with @, ~ or % beside their name in your channel list.

    Some answers:
    +v, voice, just means you can talk (e.g. type) in a channel with +m enabled. We do not use +m except during times when it is unruly and/or hilarity.

    OP = Operator. Moderator basically. All of the DLP staff is an operator of some sort.

    And asking for +v will probably end up with the channel moderated and everyone but you being given +v. ^_^

    When I try and connect using chatzilla or mirc it does not work. The connection times out.

    Okay, that's fine and all - Mibbit sucked - but is there a specific reason why it appears I'm banned when I try to get in via other ways like mIRC or Chatzilla? Did I miss something, or is it a leftover from being on Mibbit during the spambot banning or...?

    Use Xchat and connect over SSL. That usually works on Uni servers.

    Yeah, I got that, but I'm kinda lost about what happened next. I was on Mibbit at the same time that troll guy was doing his thing yesterday, and got kicked with the him and the others using Mibbit in a flood thingy (I think ChaosGuy and Tehlaziboi were on Mibbit too, if I recall). So, when I went on mIRC instead, I think someone thought I was still on Mibbit and kicked and banned me from the channel, so I tried Mibbit again in the hope it had been resolved, got on, thought things were cool and then got kicked again. And now I can't get on through any means... Long story short, I'm kinda having a "what is this I don't even" moment right about now. So yeah. Not quite sure what's going on.

    Cheers guys. I think the moral of this story is... Fuck Mibbit. And if you're naturally predisposed to log back on immediately after being disconnected, yeah, it kinda could look suspicious. Lesson learned.

    So I got a new computer and set up my mIRC again, but unfortunately I can't find a single old mIRC that isn't a virus/malware. And the new version doesn't take the nnscript. A little help maybe?

    Edit: Regular mIRC is so drab and boring >:/

    I actually already tried one of those versions, and my computer freaked the fuck out. "YOU JUST DOWNLOADED MALWARE YOU SUMBITCH!" So I backed off of downloading from that site. Maybe AVG was just recognizing it as malware for reasons unknown. :/
