I mean if you had magic wouldn't you get a little revenge, but in alot of fic's he just leaves.
He'll then spend the rest of the story bitching and moaning, about the treatment at Durzkaban.
Or I'd turn them into moths and let Mrs Figgs cat's at them.

Ahh yes the redemtion fics. I can't stand those. In my point of view you are seriously changing the nature of the character by doing that. If someone writes an AU with them being nice from the begining then fine. But most don't do that, instead they change the character half way through the series for some lame as excuse. A story really losses its appeal for me when then happens.

BTW when I said they, I was including Snape and Draco too. I like them when they are evil prats and snarky bastards.

 

It's usually Harry telling Petunia all the shit he went through at Hogwarts and suddenly the damn of all her emotions breaks and a flood of love erupts and she envelops Harry in a strong hug apologizing for all the shit she's put him through. Harry is shocked for a whole 5 seconds before he returns the hug and begins to cry. They then proceed to make the dirty...

It's too bad the latter never happens. It'd be different at least.

 

I'm partial to Redeemed! characters, either if the story is completely AU, or the author has a very good reason for a complete personality change. Of course, there are some characters I don't care if they're evil or civil (mainly Draco and Snape), but again, unless a good reason is given, I won't like the story or the character.

And I agree that Petunia should be killed, preferably with rubber ducks and helium, but Kitchenware gets the job done too. =P

How about when Harry is born with a full head of hair? In almost every story that has somebody recalling Harry's birth that I have read, it says something about Harry "already having a full head of unruly, raven-black hair." WTF? Babies are born with a little fuzz on their head, in all of my experiences...GET OVER IT! Just because one of Harry's defining characteristcs (sadly) is his untameable hair doesn't mean that it was that way from birth!

 

Harry as a day walking vampire. Only Blade can fuckin do it! Unless James or Lilywas a Vampire, when turned Harry is a full fuckin vampire. You can't be Half vampire from a turning, you gotta have a vampire and a human parent. Oh yeah, Vampires can't eat or drink anything other than blood. Harry can not drink a coke after a turning and go shopping with Blaise, Harry also can not survive at Hogwarts by never drinking a single drop of blood. Pumpkin juice will not sustain a vampire god dammit!!

 

^ To be honest we dont actually know anything about Vampires from Harry Potter lore. So, it is open to interpretation.

What I hate is is when Dumbledore whines on about "Making sure Harry stays on the Light side" What is this? F-ing Star Wars?

 

A lot of the fics are written anne rice style except they add some extra things to make sure Harry can survive in sunlight and still go to Hogwarts.

As much as the light side and dark side thing goes even though it's been over used it does explain alot of the good/bad magic and intentions in the wizarding world. The term "Dark Magic" has been used in canon.

 

I know dark magic is used in canon, but the 'Dark Side' isnt.

 

All they do is take it one step further. Since theirs dark magic people can make assumptions of there being a light side and dark side to magic.

 

Ah, for me, while i liked the idea of dark magic and so on, i can see that in the books, they use "dark magic" as an escused for everything. Dark magic for getting into gringott, dark magic into escaping azkaban... It seems that few next to none knows whart dark magic really is.

 

Really? there are an handfull of good crossover... i would recommend "inevitable" at tthfanfic.com, and some others too.

ok, another rant. I hate it when dumbledor is portrayed as "the" Dark lord of all dark lord, and harry easily counter all his evil plot without trying and show in one chapter who dumbledor really is.

Not only is that not possible (as I doubt they're that sadistic), but come on. It's been done to death and back, on top of the fact the neighbors would call the fire-department about the fire, and who's stupid enough to start a fire in the middle of their house? And they have an electric fire-place to boot. =P

 

I have got the most cliche thing in fanfiction to top em all....HP/DM! There are thousands of harry/draco fics out there.

My reall post is for the harry gets a job over the summer. Really I amquite bored of reading Harry working at a movie theater/tile shop/port-o-potty cleaner outer dude.x TONS Of Useless filler. GOING NOWHERE!
