So, I've recently gotten caught up in the craze of Nerf/dart blaster HvZ that's running around university campuses in the US (not sure about elsewhere). I was wondering if anyone else is in on this.

I've modified a slew of Nerf blasters now and I've gotten several load-outs set up for different missions. However, everything can be improved and I was wondering if anyone had played or is planning on playing so I can ask them what they do and/or have.

So, anyone else in on this or is it just me?

 

I played it in college. It was incredibly fun.

 

What did you use? The new set up involving dart blasters or did you play with sharpies?

I've been told recently that the switch to blasters hasn't happened everywhere and people play with sharpies in certain places

I've never played HvZ, but I have a de-air-restricted Maverick, a RapidFire S20 (fantastic gun, that, 20 darts in like three seconds) and I superglued three secretshots together to make the lamest three-dart-blast ever.

 

Blasters I've modifed:

Raider: removed air restrictors, shortened it, removed the pump handle and replaced with a personalized handles.

Maverick: Removed air-restrictor, added an extended barrel, removed locks on the barrel so it goes all the way.

Longstrike: removed air-restrictor, removed trigger locks, made the stock removable(it wasn't before), and shortened the add-on extension to a more useful but still cool looking length.

Vulcan: Removed air-restrictors, removed clicky noise/lock from the stand and will in the future modify the batteries to take more powerful batteries.

That's what I've dones so far, hoping to do more.

Anyone else done anything related to Nerf or HvZ?

 

I've played. I never modified my guns though.

We could use bundled socks though as well, like a pair of socks together. It was an interesting weapon of choice, but worked well in short range, as the Zombies never realized you had them hidden.

 

...Sharpies? I did it at UMD, 2006 and on.

My one and only favorite weapon was a Nitefinder that had a stretched spring, air restrictor removed, and a barrel replacement that was incredibly accurate and had great distance. I could snipe Zeds pretty safely.

 

How did you remove the air restrictor and trigger locks on the long strikes? I've always wanted to improve mine but wasn't sure where to start.

 

I use this guy's modification tutorial. However instead of a dremel or drill I used a hammer and screwdriver. It takes a bit longer but it works if you do it right.

 

Thank you. It worked beautifully and now my gun is shouting further and it has a louder sound, something another video said it would have. Now I just need to test it out.

 

Use some craft foam shoved to the bottom of the plunger to quiet it. Or around the edge that goes into the plunger.

 

Minus the chain, Ive got an awesome Longstrike in custom colors. Le epic.
