This is what doesn't show up on FFN.

Yes, well, I have a URL Filter, Adblock + and NoScript.

There isn't anything I don't want to show up getting through. I can block hulu commercial ads to where it just comes up to the commercial and just skips the ad, I can block all Pandora ads, including their stupid videos, and I can also block all ads on Justin.tv. So, I'm happy. Suck on that superiority.

How'd you manage that? I used to skip their ads, but Hulu changed something a while ago, and now I get that blank 30 second screen telling me to stop blocking their ads.

Too many film directors get into it and think they can somehow reinvent the medium. More often than not, it turns into mushy, gushy crap. (That was the case last summer in the Santa Fe performance of La Traviata; I didn't go, but my wife did and found it gag-worthy).

BTW, Santa Fe Opera FTFW: tailgating with catered food, white wine, tux jacket, jeans and cowboy boots.

Crap, what were we talking about again?

...As studiously as I avoid the Kennedy Center foppish types, reading that still made my left eye tick more than a little bit.

    Flashblock

If you use NoScript you're still front-loading scripted elements. The FlashBlock addon blocks the download of scripted elements until you allow it with a single left-click.

Works well. I use it in conjunction with NoScript, AdBlock Plus, and Better Privacy.

    EDIT: Also? Ghostery.

I can show you the exceptions for Hulu if you want?

Also, if you have Opera's URL Filter configured right, you can do what Ghostery and NoScript do as well(As is illustrated above by google services, and Revenue Services being blocked).

Adblock controls what elements I don't want to show up on webpages, which 90 percent of the time is useless flash ads, and I have custom userstyles to retool and remove shit from sites that I visit frequently, which increases load time significantly.

Err, I had most of those blocked already, and they don't really apply to the in-video ads. I was more interested in how you got it to skip straight to the show instead of scolding you for having adblock.

The closest I could get you is using something like "Flashgot", "VideoDownloadHelper" or "Unplug" to DL the file and then skip over it. If the ads are run as a separate script as the main video buffers, it could be tricky but still doable.

You'd just have to learn a new routine to watch them which, in the end, may be more troublesome than just sitting through the 30 second spot.

I don't get scolded. It just plays the videos for me, no ads, or ad warning.

Goddamn I'm jealous. It used to be that Adblock and NoScript was enough, but they wised up. Now I'm doubly curious as to how you block it.

Could you export your filters so I (and probably everyone else) can just copy you? It's shameless mooching, but you'd win awesome points for it.
