    Its a life debt!

Since Voldemort used Harry's blood, he owes a part of his life to Harry!

    It makes perfect sense!

... I'll go back to my hole now ...:(

What do you mean by "life-debt" and what does it mean for those involved? This is a very popular fanon concept, but do you think JKR will introduce it?

JKR already introduced it, didnt she? Peter owes Harry one.

It's introduced, but never really defined. Also, I think your reasoning is a bit faulty. As described in canon, a life-debt is only accrued when a wizard/witch through willful and deliberate action prevents the death of another wizard/witch in a manner that involves great personal risk and the possibility of the death of the savior. Having someone unwillingly take your blood to ressurrect themselves and try to kill you would not endebt them to you. I'm not entirely certain how much of a part Harry's blood plays in Voldemort's new body, but it is entirely possible that the blood was simply a ritual component that had nothing to do with the actual body's composition.

Also, as far as I know, only Ginny and Wormtail would owe life-debts to Harry, with him having inherited the life-debt that Snape owed James. And Ginny's is doubtful, due to the age of the participants, and the fact that while Peter's and Snape's debts are mentioned in canon, Ginny's never is (as far as I remember.

Wasn't there already a thread on this? It could have been posted there... oh well.

Anyway, its possible but a long shot, I think. The 'Gleam of Triumph' means that Voldemort obviously did something wrong, but what?

Maybe it has something to do with Peter's flesh in the ritual and his debt to Harry? That's another long shot.

Maybe the Gleam of Triumph was just dumbledore being proud of what his former student has achieved magic wise even though it was pure evil.

Oh come on isn't it obvious?

Harry has a magical STD probably from Dumbledore while he was sleeping a year or two back, which infected Voldemort from the magical blood transfusion.

Because Voldemort is older with a weaker immune system, the STD damages him quicker whereupon it will kill him roughly at the same as it will Harry.

The only cure is to consume the last bowel movement of someone who died from the STD.

Hence neither can live while the other survives.

However, Harry has the power that the Dark Lord knows not, Ginny's nether fluids that contains an abnormal amount of ERV3, a virus that suppresses the immune system in women to enable pregnancy, which is how Molly was able to have so many children even with Arthur's low sperm count.

Harry injects it into Voldemort, it suppresses his immune system even more, he dies from the STD quicker than Harry.

Harry than chows down on the Dark Lord's excrement, before he goes off to celebrate the Dark Lord's defeat even though he is already shitfaced.

This is of course after all of the Horcruxes are hidden inside pastries and destroyed by being fed to Dudley.

I thought that after the prophecy was revealed I concluded it was the final peace of it. Marked is his scare but when Voldemort took his blood then he was his most dangerus enemy or an equal...but then again he also took a bone of his father and the hand of wormtail(think thats say all Voldemort cares of blood). The gleam in Dumbles eyes either have something to do with the prophecy(spelled wrong?) or a connection or whatever.

Harry being a Horcrux is never an idea I supported, but the 'gleam of triumph' maybe the fact that Voldemort used up one of his horcruxes in the resurection process(Harry), thus leaving one less on the buggers for Dumbledore to find.

Assuming Voldemort split his sole into 7 before he attacked the Potters, he would be left with only six pieces after Harry vanquished him (That is if Voldmort lost a piece of his soul when the Killing curse rebounded). Then by using Harry you have the Ring, the Diary, and Harry unavailable to Voldemort for future consumption and The necklace, Voldemort and one other Horcrux left to find.

As far as I know, Dumbledore didn't know anything about the Horcruxes until the summer after OotP. He might have had a vague idea, but as per what he says in the book, the gleam of triumph couldn't have had anything to do with Horcruxes. If you remember, Dumbledore thought that Tom Riddle had saved 'a memory of himself in the diary' to possess Ginny.

And as far as logic goes, this was the first thing that came to mind when I read that part, that Voldemort now owed Harry a life debt. But that was immediately put to rest because Voldemort was able to fire Killing Curses at Harry. So while its the most obvious interpretation, I'm willing to bet that it's a lot more complicated than that...that is, if JK even remembers it and elaborates on it in the final book. I have a feeling that she'll jsut forget about it, considering the utter amount of bullshit that needs to be put into the last book.

There is no way she can just ignore that though. I feel like its one of the main things people ask about when it comes to book 7.

My gut feeling told me it was because Harry over-powered Voldemort in the wand-fight and as such actually has a chance of defeating Voldemort in a true fight (assuming voldemort is high, drunk, blindfolded and just donanated 4.5 liters of blood)

I thought it was because Voldemort used Wormtail's hand to be resurrected. Wormtail owes a debt to Harry, thus Voldemort's magic will be somehow weakened against him. It also explains why an underachieving 14 year old with barely any dueling knowledge was able to OVERPOWER one of the darkest wizards in history.

Actually, that kind of pisses me off. If Wormtail owes Harry a life debt, why was he able to cut Harry's elbow to get his blood?

JK might have thought things through better...like this: :)

Harry: OH NOES SIRUSSSS IS DED!1

Ginny: WOWZERS CAP'N KIRK I NEED TO SET MY PHASER ON 'COMFORT'! *belts Harry one across the face* HOW DARE YOU CRY ZOMGZOMGZOMG DON'T YOU NOE WE MIS HIM TOU?!

Harry: *blinks owlishly at her* LIFE DEBT, BIATCH! kekekekekekeke!

    Ginny: OH NOES!1 *drops dead*

Harry: *stands up and brushes himself off* Finally...

See? Shitty post-OotP fics would be so much awesomer if every time the author used a stupid plot device like making Ginny slap Harry to get them together, she just died... XD
